After long consideration I
have decided to make the race
for Sheriff of this county.
Three and one-haif years ago
I was appointed first deputy
by Sheriff Dick Middleton.
Serving under him until May 1.
1946, when he resigned to go
with the Texas Ranger Force.
At that time I was appointed
by the Commissioners Court to
fill out the unexpired term of
Sheriff Middleton.
Before my appointment as
deputy sheriff I served 13V4
years with the State Highway
Department in this county, be
ing in the maintenance depart-
ment.
The record I shall stand on
is the record of my three and
one-naif years as deputy sher-
iff. 1 tried to do my doty in
every respect. How well 5
succeeded in thus, the record
will show.
If 4 am elected to this office
I shall fulfill it to the best of
my ability, without fear or fa-
vor towards anyone.
It will be impossible for me
to make a house to house cam-
paign for the reason of the
duties of my office. I will leave
my rate largely in the hands of
my friends.
