Notice if hereby given that
the State of Texas and the City
of Tim peon, a municipal cor-
poration, situated in Shelby
County, Texas, plaintiffs, both
acting herein by and through
said City, pursuant to existing
law, and at the request of the
State Highway Commission of
the State of Texas, have filed
plaintiffs' statement with the
judge of the County Court of
. Texas, seeking
’or highway right
of way purpose* in the City of
Timpson, Shelby County, Tex-
as, through proceeding* in emi-
nent domain, with fee simple
title thereto vesting in the
State of Texas, save and ex-
cept all oQ, gas and sulphur
beneath said land, with no
right remaining in the owners
of said oil, gas and sulphur, of
Ingress or egress to or from the
surface of said land for the
purposes of exploring, .devel-
oping, drilling, or mining said
minerals, same to be paid for
by said City, a description of
said land involved in these pro-
ceedings being as follows: to-

same being out of and a part
of a tract of land 50 feet by
140 feet on Outlot No. 41, City
of Timpson, situated on the
John Foster Survey A-220,
Shelby County, Texas, convey-
ed by Charlie Mathes et ux,

Thomas and wife, Annie Mae
Thomas, by deed dated Feb.
16, 1943. recorded in Vol. 226,
page 190, Deed Records, Shel-
by County, Texas, which

SNYDER TEACHERS
HONOR STANFIELD
Snyder—M. E. StanSeld, as-
sistant superintendent of
schools here, was honored at
the anneal banquet of the
Snyder Classroom Teachers
Assn, in the high school cafe-
teria Tuesday night.
Stanfield, who is retiring
from teaching to enter the ia-
mrcr.ce business this year, was
presented a (40 gift certifi-
cate, a fishing rod and other
presents by his fellow teach-
ers.
He has spent 39 years in
teaching, 24 of them here.
Stanfield elementary school In
southwest Snyder, completed
in 1966, is the only school
named for a Snyder citizen.
Mar West, president of the
Snyder school board when the
building waa erected, said it
was named for Stanfield in ap-
preciation of the many years
of service in the school sys-
tem.
Stanfield started teaching in s* tw.
a county school in Shelby coun-
ty, where he waa bora fi5 years; “The saUta poultry Industry

high school teacher in 1938, ^
became principal of the high
school in 1941 and school su-
perintendent in 1947.
When things settled down
after the oil boom here, he ask-
ed that the job of assistant su-
perintendent be set np. He ac-
cepted the position in 1662.
There were shout 56* stu-
dents in the entire Snyder
school system when he came
here in 1988. There were 519
enrolled in the three-year sen-
ior high school this year when
he announced his retirement
plans.
“The thing that costs the
least and does the mast is just
a pleasant smile” reads the
motto in his office and Stan-
field's smile is big and broad.

without that broad grin,
when he talks about the oil
