Commissioners’ Court in
Regular Session Today
Commissioner E. A. Bogard
is spending the day in Center,
in attendance upon the regular
session of Shelby County Com-
missioners’ court. Routine mat-
ters will largely occupy the
time of the eourt, we under-
stand.
Bussey Byrn, student Bayior
University, was here last week-
end for a visit with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Byrn.
F. O. B. Johnson of Hills-
boro, was here last week-end
for a visit with his mother,
Mrs. F. O. Johnson and sister,
Miss Haudeli Johnson.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Haden
of Henderson, were the guests
of Timpson friends Sunday af-
ternoon.
Mrs. Ruth Robbins of Kirby-
ville. was the guest of Mrs. H.
L. McDowell of this city Sun-
day.
Class Meeting Postponed
Sunday school class No. 2 of
the Methodist church has post-
poned its social meeting until
March I9th. The meeting will
be held at 2 p. m., with Mrs.
W. D. Wade.
M. B. Brown Succumbs
At Home in Austin;
Timpson-Center Rela-
tives Attend Rites
M. B. Brown, 67, former
deputy supervisor in the State
department of education, died
Saturday afternoon at his
home in Austin. Funeral serv-
ices were held Sunday at 1:30

Mr. Brown, a native of Ten-
nessee, came to Texas in 1894
and taught continuously
throughout Die state for 32
years. He received a bache-
lor of literature degree from
Transylvania university and
his masters degree from the
University of Texas.
He was made superintend-
ent of the Texas School for the
Blind in 1923 and served until
1927 when he went into the
State department of education
and served as a deputy state
superintendent of the Austin
district.
In Sept., 1S39, he was made
secretary of the board of ex-
aminers.
Survivors include his wife:
a son, M. B. Brown, Jr„ of Fort
Worth; five daughters, Mrs.
W. R. Scott of Fort Worth,
Mrs. W. B. Leonard of Hous-
ton, Miss Lucy Ann Brown of
Laredo and Misses Vera Allen
Brown and Jane Brown of Aus-
tin; one brother, G. O. Brown
of San Antonio and one sister,
Mrs. James L. McKeown of
Clarksdale, Miss.
Twentieth Century
Club Meets With Mrs.
W. D. Whiteside
The Twentieth Century club
will meet Tuesday, March 12,
at 2:30 o’clock with Mrs. VV.
D. Whiteside. Mrs. Tot Taylor
will give her inteipretation of
the current book, “The Trees,”
by Conrad Richter.

Ciub have a cordial invitation
to attend.

tend the rites. Mra. Brown,
wife of deceased, is a sister of
the above Shelby county resi-
dents. Smith Sanders, Mrs
Hugh jones and Dr. Rogers of
Center, accompanied them to
Austin.
Mr. and Mrs. C.- L. Lightfoot
and three sons, ieft this morn-
ing for their none in Belle-
ville, after spending the week-
end with the gentleman's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Light-
foot. Mr. Lightfoot has a
splendid position with the
Santa Fe Railway-Co.
