State Fire husnact
"To build a solid defense
against fire,’.’ is a vital factor
in our national defense prepa-
rations, Marvin Hall, State
Eire Insurance Commissioner,
said in a statement issued by
him today calling upon all the
people of Texas to Join with
the local fire marshals, fire de-
partments and city officials of
Texas communities in prevent-
ing fires arising from dried
grass and weeds.
"fire caused by dried grass
and weeds have caused many
serious tomes to buildings and
contents over a long period of
yean,’' Hall further added,
and he appealed to the prop-
erty owners of Txeas to pre-
vent this class of fires by cut-
ting and removing the grass
and weeds from their premises,
and cited that It would be a
fine example of patriotism at
this particular time inasmuch
as the cost of fires and the de-
fense against fires , weighs
heavily in our national bad-
get as well as the community
budget.
In conclusion. Hall said, "it
is important that operators of
private automobiles and
