The Sila* Community Club
held its regular meeting Tues-
day night, August 9, with
large crowd in attendance.
Pallas Crump, club presi-
dent, called the meeting to or-
order.
It was decided that the com-
munity would enter an exhibit
booth at the Shelby County
Fair. The following committees
were appointed to work on
that: Mrs. Grover Crump,
Franklin Childs and Mrs. Bud
Crtunp.
The club voted to betp the
4-H’era buy some recreation
equipment of their own selec-
tion. The following adult lead-
ers were appointed to help
them: Meed limes James Box,
Heber Williams, Lamar Per-
kins; also, Mr. Bud Crump.
The county agent, Mr. Jo*
Anderson, and home demon-
stration agent. Miss Martha
Clinton, were present, and
both congratulated the commit,
nity for their part and progress
in the community improvement
program; also, the 4-H girls
for their part in the county
dress revue which is sponsored
by the Simplicity Pattern De-
partment
We were very proud of all
the visitors present and want
anyone to feel welcome to at-
tend at any time.
The meeting adjourned and
several gallons of ice cream
were served to about sixty peo-
ple. Reporter.
Claude T.
Dies At Tenaha
Center — Funeral services
were held Friday for Claude
T. Bowlin, 61, who died Thurs-
day, Aug. 18, at hh home in
Tenaha.
Mr. Bowlin was an electri-
cian and died after a lengthy
illness.
Services were held in the
Tennessee Presbyterian church
and burial was in the church
cemetery under-the direction
of Manguir. Funeral Home,
Survivors are his widow;
three brothers, Bennie Bowlin
of Tim peon, Jim Bowlin of Pt.
Necbes, and Eddie Bowlin of
Lotransport, La.; three sisters,
Mrs. Enlah Plenums at Carth-
age, Mrs. Irene Roberts and
Mrs. Lillian Marshall of Thnp-
son.

Roy Monroe Dent, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. Dent, is
in the process of opening a
new office for the Bell Tele-
phone Company in Wichity,
Kansas; Mr. Dent is assistant
district accounting manager
for the company. The Dents
have purchased a home ip
Wichita and will be sattled be-
fore the opening of school.
Graduate* With High
Honors at S.F.A. College
Kilgore, Aug. 22—F. E. Me-
David, Kilgore Heights princi-
pal, and Mrs. McDavid were
agreeably surprised last night
when they attended com-
mencement exercises at Steph-
en F. Austin State College in
Nacogdoches. They learned
that their graduating daugh-
ter, Mrs. Harry Conger, was
the second highest racking
senior in her class. Also at the
graduation were Mrs. Conger's
grandmothers, Mrs. G. C. Me-
David and Mrs. R. B. Ramsey,
both of Timpson, and her hus-
band. This fall Mrs. Conger,
formerly Catherine McDavid,
will teach English in a South
Houston junior high school,
while Mr. Conger attends the
University of Houston.
