WHY LITTLE GIRLS
•OUTSMART BOYS
A new book published by
the Association for Supervision
and Curriculum Development,
describes some research into
the reason why girls appear to
be smarter than boys in ele-
mentary and high school.
The girls do better, it seems,
both at home and at school, be-
cause they believe, rightly or
wrongly, that their efforts win
more “approval" from adults.

IN REMEMBRANCE
OF VERNIE BURGAY
By Nora Bridwell
Jesus our Savior came down
from above
In manificant power and gra-
cious love;
Yes, Ho came early one August
day
To take Vernie to that home
faroway.
She was with us for just a
short time,
When God in heaven called
her as tee next in line;
Now she has gone home, and
we miss her so,
But on the other bend we all
know
That the one above does every-
thing right,
Even though to do without her
is a hard fight.
She is not dead; she it just
asleep.
And some glad day, you and
she will meet
To be joined together hand
and hand
Aa we cross over Jordon to
that distant land.
Where all the saved ones shall
meet,
And there the Master will
gladly greet
Hfc dear children whom He
loves so.
Because He bent so very low
To give His life for you and me
So we the living should pre-
pare to meet
Our darling dear who has just
gone to sleep.
