and daughter, Mary Sue, were
Shreveport visitors Thursday.
Mr. Crausby attended a show-
ing of “Gone With the Wind.”
Mrs. Crausby having previous-
ly seen the picture, took the
opportunity to visit her sister,
Miss Fannie Lee Francis.
Jack Pruitt, student Texas
Medical College, Galveston,
came in Wednesday night to
spend the Easter holidays with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. D.
Pruitt of this city.
The new Higgins family pic-
ture, “Money to Bum”, comes
to the Palace tonight and Sat-
urday and the double feature
program. Tex Bitter in “West-
bound Stage” is the No. 2 offer-
ing.
Glenda Jane, a lovely little
girl, has arrived to bless the
home of Mr. and Mis. Edgar
Beasley. The eight-pound girl
arrived March 13.
Mrs. W. A. Taylor and
daughter, Miss Rebecca, came
in from Fort Worth Thursday
to 3pend the Easter holidays
at home. Miss Taylor is a stu-
dent of Texas Christian Uni-
versity and her mother has
been in Fort Worth with hei
for the past few weeks.
Tex Ritter, the neighbor-
boy, who has made good in a
big way, comes to the Palace
tonight on a double feature
program, “Westbound Stage”,
in which he stars, and “Mon-
ey to Burn,” the new Higgins'
family comedy.
O. J. Hanszen of Carthage
was a business visitor in Timp
son Thursday.
Rev. Williams of Rusk Will
Address Baptist Brotherhood
Rev. Williams, pastor of the
Baptist church of Rusk, will be
the principal speaker tonight
at the Baptist Brotherhood
banquet, it was announced to-
day by the Rev. J. A. Derrick,
pastor of the local church.
The banquet will be held in
the basement of the church,
and an interesting program
has been arranged. In addi-
tion to the speaking, there will
be special music.

ing a few days with her sister,

ter a visit with Mrs. Carror

Six-County Singers
Six-eounty fifth Sunday sing-
ing convention will meet at
Beech Grove, Jasper county, 4
miles west of Jasper on Luf-
kin road, March 31, with Fur-
man Hayes of Center, presid-
ing. Many singers from these
six counties, as well as all East
Texas, Louisiana and Arkan-
sas are invited.
Dogwood Trails Delayed
By Cool Weather;
Postponed One Week .
The blooming of dogwood
has been retarded by cool
weather, and as a result the
Texas Dogwood Trails at Pal-
estine will not be opened until
Sunday, March 31, later than
nlanr.ed by one week.

bert Lake Saturday night.

family visited Mr. and Mrs.
Tafmage Nail of Gary Sunday,
and enjoyed a birthday din-
ner.

and Diamond McCiure made a
business trip to Carthage Sat-
urday afternoon.
Mrs. Eula Humphries was
home a few days last week-
end.

Wood and Ernest Gary accom-
panied Lester Gary to Shreve-
port Friday for an examina-
tion at a hospital in that city.

TENAHA EXPECTS BIG
TOMATO ACREAGE
According to the East Texas
Light at Tenaha, tomato acre-
age in that sector, is expected
to approximate between 300
and 400 acres. Ample facili-
ties far packing and shipping
are being planned, it is stated.

pard will deliver a radio ad-
dress Saturday, March 23,
7:45 p. m., Texas time, pre-
senting the presidential quali-
fications of his long-time

Nance Gamer.
