Daniel Hilton Mr Knight was
torn near Columbus, Tens, oa
Hay as. ISIS. On Jan. 26. 186S.
at about the age of 18 he volun-
teered for service is the Con-
federate Army, joining Co. B of
the infantry, Nacogdoches Coun-
ty. Texas State Troops, under
the command of Capt. V Eu-
bank. where he served until
the close of the war. About
1873, he, with ha family, moved
to Center Shelby County, locat-
ing «■ San Augustine Street,
one mile from Ce.ler. where he
spent the remainder of Ml life.
He was the father ox 11 chil-
dren. Only three children sur-
vive: Clarence E. UcKnight, of
Denver, Colo.; Mrs. J. C. Stall-
ing, and Mrs. J. L Walker, Cen-
ter.
Inscription on the Confeder-
ate marker reads: "Daniel M
HcKnlght, Pvt. 3 Brigade, Tex-
as Slate Troop,, Confederate
States Army, Say 23, 1848—
Hay 12, 190B.”
