composed of J. C. Sawyer. E O
Speck. John L. Watkln*. Cecil Cone,
and J. A. Scott, of the Land Use
Manning committee waa appointed
In the spring to make a trip with
the roun'y agent to study the possi-
bilities of a plant for Llano county.
Other people In the county have
vlalted various other plant*. The ad-
vantage* discussed for a plant of this
kind for Llano county have been en-
couraging to the extent that during
the week beginning March t a mov-
ing picture show showing how a plant
1* operated and explaining the ad-
vantage* to a community and a coun-

to report to Fort Ham Houston on

to report to Randolph Field, near

Mr* Lillie Leona Howard died at
her home In Llano last Sunday. Feb-
ruary 33 and wa* burled in the Uano
•.e.natery on Monday of this week.
Mrs Howard was born April 2.
3*92 tn Comanche county and came
to Uano county In 1*07. where she
had made he' home slate.
On June 7. 1907. sh# was united
In marriage with W T Howard. To
this union seven children were born
five of whom survive the mother,

The rprlng stock ahow and auction
sal* of 4-H Club calves will be held
ibis year on Monday. April 7. It was
announced last night by County
Agent C. V. Robinson.
Mr. Robinson stated this date has
been set. subject to change by the
directors of the Llano County Live-
stock Improvement association, but
be thought It would be definite.
Ther* will be ten club calve* ex-
hibited and sold at auction during the
show In addition to the calves, there
will be several head of fed hogs auc-
tioned to th# highest bidiltr.
Details of the show are not avail-

built by the city of Llano and the
National Youth administration, stated

Dam Named For
Cong. Mansfield
The board of directors of the Low-
er Colorado River authority has form-
erly named the large dam on the
Marshall Ford ait# for Congressman
John J. Mansfield, in recognition of
his work In bringing this work of
water control to the district.
With the late Congressman J. P.
Buchanan. Congressman Manafleld
waa more responsible for th* federal
financing of this entire project than
any two people. It has been pointed
out..
During the early stage* of the or-
ganization. Congressman Mansfield,
..nd rhai'men of the Rivers and Har-
bofs committee, and Congressman
Buchanan aa < halrman of tne Appro-
priations committee, did valuable
work In creating both congreaslonal
and presidential interest In the Colo-
rado river of Texas.
The Mansfield dam will be the
highest of the series of rau' dam*
that have been built by the authority.

Mrs Norris had been In declining

for six month* preceding her death
had been confined to her bed She

and respected by all who knew her
She was a member of the Methodist

Llano's first Trades Day for

H. J. Hoerster. president of the Liang
Chamber of Commerce, to look tata

W. H. Wallace waa named chair-
man of the committee for the April
event, with E E. Putman and W. W.
Watkins to asaiat him.
Thia committee will appoint a com
mittee for May. who in turn will
name their successors.
Mr Wallace has not had a meet-
ing of hla committee aa yet. to dig-
cuss plans for the coming event, but
stated yesterday he would do so with-
I in the near future.
Roping Club
Interest Grows
Alex Hardin stated the first of the
week he had received applications
from eleven roper* of thl* section
for the roping club that Is being
sp insured by the Llano Chamber of
Com mere*.
Mr liardln atated he had not had
the opportunity of contacting all of
the prospective men. but thought the
total could he brought up to about
20 before the opening day.
All ropers who are planning to
Join th# Llano roping club are re-
quested to meet at the courthouse in
Uano next Saturday afternoon at 3 0g
o'clock.
The only coat to the ropers will
be the cost of one calf, which will
be sold at the end of the season and
the proceed* of th# sale returned to
the roper.
