“Secret Of The Incas” To Show
Sunday And Monday At Lantex
An electrifying tale of danger
and intrigue is coming uoxt Sun-
day and Monday to the Lantex
theater when Paramount's brand
now Technicolor adventure drama,
“Secret of the Incas" Is due to
make Its bow. Starring a top-notch
cast headed by Charlton Heston,
Robert Young, Nicole Maurey,
Thomas Mitchell and Yma Sumac,
the film Is set against the excit-
ing and lush background of th©
high Andes of Peru.
Upon this scene is enacted a
tale of violence and greed that
sees the principals fighting over
a long lost treasure worth mil-
lions of dollars. Heston is seen as
an adventurer whose one aim in
life is to gain a fortune by what-
ever means are necessary,
When he gets his chance to seize
the Indian treasure ho takes it,
but there are many obstacles In
his way.
There is Thomas Mitchell, a
thieving unscrupulous beachcomb-
er like man whose greed is even
stronger than Heston’s. Mitchell
gains the upper hand over Hes-
ton and counts himself in as a
partner.
Then there Is lovely Nlcoie
Maurey, an adventuress who Is in
love with Heston. Robert Young
is also after the treasure but for
an entirely different reason. He
is the head of an archaeological
expedition digging through the
ruins of ancient tombs to come
up with Items of historical Im-
portance for museums.
Add to this the thousands of
Inca Indians who believe that the
recovered treasure will restore the
former greatness of their ancient
civilization and you have quite a
few interested parties. The all,
meet at the digging place and In
an explosive climax the trove !b
discovered, fought over, and final-
ly turned over to the proper au-
thorities.
Sprinkled through these excite-
ment loaded doings are some won-
derful vistas of the roiling mount-
ains of Perus. The Technicolor
cameras have vlvidedly taken in
(he breat taking scenry nnd ad-
vance reports hall what they have
come up with as some of the most
magnificent photography ever to
reach the motion picture screen.
Providing further entertainment
(s the presence of Yma Sumac,
the South American thrush with
the unique vocal range. Miss Su-
mac’s chanting of the Peruvian
Indian music has an amazing ef-
fect that almost transports the
audience to that faraway land.
Produced by Mel Epstein and di-
rected by Jerry Hopper from
screenplay by Ranald MacDougall
and Sydney Roehme, "Secret of
the Incas” emerges as a wonderful
combination of fast-paced action,
properly spiced with romance and
adventure that is looked forward
to with high interest.

Slugger Wins
the "Home" Game
Slugger White, the home town’s
star hitter, dropped by the other
day to talk baseball, and to "tell
one” on himeelf.
Seems Slugger had been baby-
sitting. UI was doing just fine,"
he said, “until it was time for a
'change.’ I called Mom for advice.
Still didn’t get. it right. Then Dad
set me straight.”
"‘Place the diaper like a base-
ball diamond with you at bat,’ hr
aaid. ‘Fold second ha.se over home
plate, and pin flrat and third base
on home plate.’ That did it—with
no errors!"
From where I sit. Slugger’s Dad
had the idea. Often, like his Mom,
a lot of us tend to give advice in
our terms without considering
the other fellow's way of doing
things. Even in choosing your
favorite beverage, it’s best to
think of your neighbor. If you
like tea, and I prefer a temperate
glass of beer, we shoufM both
“play the gnm«" and try to un-
derstand each other’s point of
view.
