JACKETS
(Continued From Page One)
back in contention for the game
eight minutes deep In the third
period as he took a pltchout from
Grenwelge to scamper around left
end for the final three yards,
Again it was crucial pass comple-
tlon from Grenwelge to Decker
that covered 35 yards to the Junc-
tion three that set up the score
Grenwelge made his second suc-
cessive conversion of the night to
conclude the scoring at 21-14.
Neither team threatened in the
final stanza although it was up
to the Jacket forward wall to stop
a Junction drive cold on the 23
yard stripe. With the ball over on
down and following a punt ex-
change, Llano again came into
possession on a recovered fumble
to back the Eagles down to their
own 29.
The game was marked by the
conversion of Speedster Jimmy
Watkins, usually opt on the run-
ning plays, to a highly successful
blocking back charged with the
responsibility of protecting Passer
Hoy Grenwelge. Watkins was out-
standing in his new charge. Wat-
kins’ defensive prowess in the
secondary was also respected in
that a bevy of Eagles blockers
made him their special target each
play from scrimmage.
Stout new defensive gem was
found in Sergl Kabanschug, who
played oustandingly at a guard
position. Freshman Don Hopson
showed promise both offensively
and defensively.
