CAR ABANDONED DY THREE
LADS NEAR SPARKS.
A Ford car supposedly stolen was
abandoned near Sparks Wednesday
morning nbout 8 o'clock when tho
gnsolino ran out. The three young
men who word in possession of the
car wcro apparently "broke" as they
took the inner tubo out of the spare
cuBing and sold it to n mnn at sparks
for 25 cents and continued their Jour-
ney on foot toward Holland.
II. B. Latham proprietor of tho
store at Sparks communicated the
incident nnd the number of the car to
City Marshal Wiley Fischer who
looked up the record and found the
car belonged' to pnrtles In Waco. Mr.
Fischer called the chief of police of
that city "but they had had no report
of a ear being stolen. They in turn
got in touch with tho owner who had
not missed the automobile. Mr.
Fischer notified Holland nnd Bartlett
officers to look out for tho men but
he had received no report on the mat-
ter last night.- -Temple- Telegram.

flowing oil up through the mud and'
onto the surface although it is net
yet balled. All indications point to a
' 5000 barrel well or posBibly bottec.
Temple Tex. Dec. 25. Two high-
waymen apparently nbout 20 years

tion in open daylight Friday after-
noon near Rogers twelve miles
south of here nnd nt the point' of n
gun they seized tho car which Bryant
was driving.
According to the story the latter
told tho police the men accosted him
from the road and leveled tho gun at
him commanding n atop. They then
caused him to drive them to n seclud-
ed spot several miles distant near
Little River where they bade him
adieu and loft him atnling they wcro
going to Buckholts to hold up a bank.
Bryant snys thnt he made objjcctlons
to relinquishing his car but these
were speedily removed when tho
muzzle of a big gun was poked be-
hind' his right ear with threats to
blow his head off.
Some hours later after tho officers
