The Castroville EMS has been in
operation since 1973 on a volunteer
basis, but volunteers are hard to fine
as of late Volunteers undergo several
weeks of training before being
certified as an emergency medical
technidal (EMT). The EMTs make
$20 for every run they make, but do
not get paid for the time they spend
on call, waiting for phone calls.
The council said it would try to help
in encouraging people to volunteer
and Alexander also asked for the aid
of the local media in making his cause
known.
Concerning the sewage pond, the
council agreed to sign a contract with
Ward Boehme. provided he aeree to
specifications suggested by the city
engineer and state health require-
ments.
The council also approved expendi-
ture for core samples in the event
that a new pond need be built at the
sewer plant.
In other action, the Library
Planning Committee reported that
half the funds needed for the building
of the library have been raised and
