Michael Ray Bryan, 20, of
San Antonio, indicted bat
November for eight counts
of burglary in connection
with the downtown Hondo
rooftop burglaries, was
found guilty of two counts
earlier this month
Bryan pleaded guilty in
38th District Court and was
sentenced to IP years at the
Texas Department of Cor-
rections in Huntsville, phis
having to pay court coats.
Bryan had been listed on
the indictment with Derek
Shortridge, but charges
against Shortridge were
later dropped, as he had
already been tried and
convicted in another case in
Uvalde County.
Bryan was abo recently
convicted in another case in
Bandera County.
Other cases decided re-
cently in 38th District Court
were the following:

Medical Examiner ruled that
death occurred between 9

Autopsy examinations to
determine if she had been
sexually assaulted were in-

Walker had been a teacher
in Bandera for seven years,
wfter teaching six years in
San Antonio. She graduated
from Southwest Texas State
University.
At the time of the murder,
she was living alone in her
home, located on the Walker
Ranch south of Bandera and
near Medina Lake.
Sorenson's criminal record
indudes two rape convic-
tions. He was released from
the Texas Department of
Corrections last July after
serving 10 years of one
15-year sentence for rajie
and sodomy. He had been
cortvicted and sentenced
aftenpleading guilty in 187th
District Court in San An-
tonio, the Express story
said.
His other conviction came
in 1965 after a trial in
Bakersfield, California.
Sorenson was found guilty of
rape by threat of force, and
served four years in a
California prison. The
Bulletin story said that, until
the killing, Sorenson was
living with his parents about
one mile from Walker’s
home.
The search for Sorenson
led authorities all over the
W Hart on's Dock Road area.
Although officials said that
failture to locate him in-
dicated that he had left the
area and, possibly, the state,
Bandera residents experi-
enced an overall escalation
of tension and fear. It was
pointed out by several local
citizens that there were
plenty of plaoes in which a
man familiar with the
territory could hide.
An Express story last
week reported that Soren-
son frequented northwest
San Antonio before the time
of the murder, but also that
Leon Valley police had not
seen him after February 1.
Sorenson was reportedly
dropped off daily at a
restaurant at Bandera Road
and Loop 410, from which he
would walk to Ingram Park
Mall. There he would spend
most of his time at a video
arcade.
Some reports after Febru-
ary 1 had Soreson hitch-
hiking west, possibly to Las
Vegas, Nevada. Others in-
dicated that he had not left
the Bandera area.
When apprehended in
New York Sunday, Sorenson
reportedly told authorities
that he was on his way back
from Canada. He was carry-
ing $1.83 in cash and a large
knapsack containing cloth-
ing, the Express reported.
Monday Sorenson reported-
ly told Binghamton
authorities that he would
waive extradition so he can
be returned to Texas to
stand trial.

Shirley says, “our customers
