Dee. 20. 1992.
The lleyen’s entertained their
guests at 11 a.m. with a champagne
brunch at "tars Castillos."
In the evening their daughters and
sons-in l-aarfMary Lou and Jerry Pan-
nell of Tucson and Denise and Max
Sanders of Midway City, and grand-
daughter, Tracy Wilhite, of Tucson,
hooted a party at the Holiday Inn in
Huntington Beach with dinner and
dancing. The highlight of the evening
was their granddaughter singing
/"Grandpa".
Verniece’s sisters and their hus-
bands from San Antonio, Dolores and
Bill Riley. Margie and Marvin But-
ler. and Jeanne and F.arl Cureton;
Merhu's brother, Lrvin Heyen, and
s'ster. Florence Schmidt, also from
San Antonio; Agnes and Dick Flem-
ing of Palmdale, Nancy and Fric
Graves of San Diego, and Marlene
and F red Wolschlegel of Indian
Wells attended the event.
The Heyens were married at the
Baptist church in Hondo on a 10-day
furlough Dec. 20, 1042. They have
resided in California for 34 years. In
addition to their two daughters and
one grand daughter, they have two
great-granddaughters, Jennifer and
Kristy.
Blake Warren and Wayne Ira
Woolsey of Houston were married
Saturday, Nov. 28, in Our Lady of
Grace Catholic Church in San Anto-
nio. Monsignor Raymond Garcia
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Warren of San Anto-
nio. She is the granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Biry and niece of Mrs.
Lillie Heyen.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Gilbert Rogers of Tontitown.
Arkansas, and the late Bill Woolsey.
Honor attendant for the bride was
Linda Quintero. Best man was Denis
Ryan.
A reception was held iii Fair Oaks
Couhtry Club.
After a honeymoon in Cancun,
Mexico, the couple will reside in
Houston.

Mr. and Mrs. John H. Brieden Sr.
of Castroville, would like to an-
nounce the approaching'marriage of
their daughter DeAnn Michelle, to
Reginald McLaine Qualls, sonof Mr.
Old SCJohn's Historical
Committee plans exhibit
and Mrs. Danny Qualls Of Pleasan-
ton.
The couple is planning a February
20th wedding in St. Louis Catholic
Church in Castroville.
Old St. John's Historical Commit-
tee plans an exhibit of memorabilia
lrorn old St. John's Church and Our
I aidy of Guadalupe as part of the cele-
bration planned for Sunday, Jan. 17.
At that time Mass will be said by
Archbishop Patrick Flores to com-
memorate the 100th anniversary of
the founding of the local Catholic
congregation. The Mass will precede
the dedication of the new education
building and the unveiling of the
Texas Historical Marker on old St.
John's Church, now the parish hall.

Historical Committee are asking area
residents who have items once asso-
ciated with the two old churches,

Curtis Morton Mechler
Curtis Morton Mechler. son of-
Dawn and Jeff Mechler of San Anto-
nio. was born December 30th at
12:50 p.m. at the Methodist Hospital.
He weighed 8 lbs. 2 ozs and was 19
3/4 inches long.
He is welcomed by his sister,
Bailee; grandparents, Connie and
Donna Fnglish of San Antonio, and
Barbara and Marty Mechler of
Hondo.
Luke Russell Ulbrich
Ashton Emily Ulbrich daughter of
Rusty and Jo Ulbrich is proud to
announce the arrival of her brother
Luke Russell.
He was born on December 13th at
Medina Community Hospital, he
weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and
was 21 inches long.
Proud grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Beck of D'Hanis and Mr.
and Mrs. Pete Ulbrich of Hondo.
Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Ulbrich and Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Ward, all of Hondo.
Luke also has a great-great-grand-,
mother, Mrs. Lula Ulbrich of Hondo..

the committee has received one set of
brass’candlesticks; a Solemn Com-
munion Certificate, signed by Rev.
J.J. Meyers, die first resident priest;
early confirmation pictures and a
hymn book as permanent gifts as a
nucleus for the permanent exhibit the
committee hopes to aquire.
