Court authorizes parttime help to cut backlog
. ~ An additional parttime position
was authorized Monday by
Commissioners Court to eliminate
the backlog of probate cases.
County Clerk Anna Van De Walle
was authorized to hire someone for
.two days per week to train in the
position and begin placing the back-
logged probate case into the com-
puter system. *'
The system has approximately
6,000 cases on backlog; however not
all of these will need to placed in the
computer.

"Right now we have some 370
cases in the computer," Van De
Walle told the Court. "We are keep-
ing up with current cases, but need
another person to start a 'catchup'
program.”
The person will work only two
days per week in the beginning.
•"First we need to get that person on
board and trained,” Van De Walle
said. "After that is accomplished we
can see how things go and if we
need more time it can be discussed."
In other action the Court
—Approved a copy machine for
the Juvenile Detention Center. The
Hill Country Office Machines bid of
$3,250 on a Konica machine was
accepted by the Court as recom-
mended by the Detention Center.
—Heard Ophie Kent say that he
couldn't figure why he can't get his
road worked on in accordance with
an agreement he made with Precinct
1 to exchange materials from his pit
for maintaining the road.
"I have given the county thou-
sands of dollars worth of materials
over the years and yet in the last 18
months I cannot get my road main-
tained,” Kent said.
Commissioner Marvin Bendele
was not present, but County Judge
Butch Campsey said Bendele told
him that he would complete the road
this week.
—Approved plan by Juvenile De-
tention Center Supervisor Jeff Par-
sons to use Performance Rewards
program money to hire three fulltime
shift supervisors, purchase some
equipment and continuation of the
"first offender" program.
—Subscribed to the Texas Asso-
ciation of Counties' TAC Newsletter
to run through the next session of the
Legislature. Cost will be $i 50.
—Re-appointed Dean Zinsmeyer
of D'Hanis to the Medina County 9-
1-1 Emergency District Board.

30 YEARS... of dedicated service to Medina County by Joe Rodriguez was acknowledged Monday during
the Commissioners Court meeting. Commissioners Louis Ehlinger and Stanley Keller (right) and Jodge
Butch Campsey presented Rodriguez with a commemorative drawing of the cou rthouse signed by the judge
and each of the four commissioners. Attending the presentation was Joe's wife, Alicia, who will finish 30
years with the county next year. Rodriguez, who has been custodian, has many interesting stories of his
tenure in the county courthouse. He will retire Friday, Dec. 18.

DOUBLE THANKS... Well-deserved plaques of appreciation were
presented to A. D. Patterson recently upon his retirement from active
participation in the Southwest Family Life Center and the Medina
County Association for the Handicapped. Patterson has worked with
both groups since they were fou nded in t he mid-1980s. In the top photo
Executive Director Tony Langfeld and Treasurer Carolyn Muennink
present a plaque to Patterson (center) on behalf of the Family Life
Center and, below, Muennink who is secretary-treasurer and Burnis
Lawence, president, present a plaque from the handicapped group.
Ashley Kristen Boehle
Russell and Cindy Boehle are
proud to announce the arrival of their
daughter, Ashley Kristen, on No-
vember 28th at 1:27 a.m. at South-
west Methodist Hospital in San An-
tonio. She weighed 9 lbs. 2 ozs. and
was 21 inches long.
She is welcomed by her big brother
Joshua, grandparents Claybome and
Carla Boehle and Hilmer and Betty
Boehle, all of Hondo. Also welcom-
ing Ashley are her uncles, aunts, and

Clancey Thomas Lynch is the newest
blessing to David and Mishell
Lynch. This precious gift from the
Lord measuring 22 1/4 inches long
and weighing 9 pounds arrived at
Medina Community Hospital at 7:50
p.m. on Tuesday, November 17th,
1992.
Rejoicing along with Clancey's
parents are his big brother Paden,
maternal grandpamets Ivan and
Romell Nester of Dunlay, paternal
grandparents Richard and Frances

Tyler Kyle Wilson
Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Wilson of
Uvalde proudly announce the birth of
their son, Tyler Kyle Wilson. He was
bom December 7, 1992, in Uvalde
Memorial Hosptial, Uvalde, Texas.
He weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 20
inches long. Tyler is welcomed home
by his big brother, Trey.
Maternal grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Coleman of Uvalde. Pa-
ternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Wilbur Wilson of Pearsall and
Yancey.
Brig Harborth Gerlich
Robin and Dwayne Gerlich of La
Vemia are ecstatic to announce the
arrival of their #1 son, Brig Harborth
Gerlich, bom Wed., Dec. 2,1992, at
Humana Women's Hospital.
Arriving at 4:23 p.m., Brig tipped
the scales at 8 lbs., 11 oz., and accord-
ing to his dad, the former Hondo
Owls' basketball coach, he stands
1 TO" tall. (22 inches).
Dwayne is now the basketball
coach at Floresville, while Robin
coaches volleyball in La Vemia.
Brig also has the distinction of
being a fifth generation baby.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Theo Gerlich of La Vemia, and Mr.
and Mrs. Ken Harborth of Seguin.
Paternal great grandmother is Mrs.
Irma Perry, and paternal great-great
grandmother is centenarian Mrs. Ella
Helmke. Both live in La Vemia.
