Love lights a tree:
Local unit project
helps fight cancer
The glitter of holiday lights has a
special glow for many this year
thanks to a special project dedicated
to helping in the fight against cancer.
"Love Lights a Tree, sponsored by
the Medina County Unit of the
American Cancer Society, provides
the opportunity to purchase a 'love
ornament' before the holiday season
is over," said Carol Crouch, unit
president.
This is a wonderful way to recog-
nize a special person in your life, and
to know you are doing something
positive in the battle against cancer.
Donations can be made in honor of,
or in memory of, a special person all
during the year. Each honoree or, in
the case of a memorial gift, the
hcmoree's family, will be notified of
the donation.
Donations can be made by sending
a check to the American Cancer
Society office at 8115 Datapoint
Drive, San Antonio, TX 78229.
To obtain a form, or for more infor-
mation, call your American Cancer
Society office at (210) 614-4211.
Methodist
Women meet
The United Methodist Women of
the First Methodist Church met at the
church Dec. 8th for our regular
monthly meeting and Christmas
party.
The table was decorated with a
huge basket of Poinsettias with gold
metallic ribbon spaced among them.
The program was under the direc-
tion of Lorine Hackebeil. She began
it by our singing Christmas carols
and a duet by Mrs. Hackebeil and
Florine Langford, all accompanied
on the piano by Dora Mae Faseler.
Mrs. Hackbeil read a Christmas
poem by Helen Stenier Rice and told
about other poems she had written,
she included scripture and a story
about the Faded Blue Blanket. The
program ended with a prayer from
our hymnal read in unison.
A short businss meeting was held,
the president Dora Mae Faseler pre-
siding. The group voted to have all
our regular monthly meetings at
nj^htin 1993.
Renie Garrison called attention to
the award given to our United Meth-
odist Women for meeting five objec-
tives for the year.
The night circle provided an hour
of fun, hot drinks and sandwiches
were served to 23 members and
guests.
