Love and joy came to us in 1993.
The Auxilians of Medina Commu-
nity Hosptial wish to extend our
thanks to each and every one for your
love and continued support in help-
ing make our Gift Shop a success.
You have also helped us to meet
the needs of the Hospital in your love
donations to help complete our proj-
ects, the latest being privacy curtains
in the patients' rooms.
Now that the New Year is ap-
proaching, we are looking forward to
the 6th annual Sweetheart Charily
Ball on Feb. 12, at the Medina
County Fair Hall. This year's ball
colorswill be black, white and silver.
Tickets will go on sale in January
for $30 each or a table of 10 for $250.
Co-chairpersons for the ball are
Carolyn Parisi and Marilyn
Mogford. Committee chairpersons
are Carol Finger, decorations; Mary
Alice Eckhart, food; Gwen Haegelin
and Ginger Tondrc, silent auction;
news features, Marian Lindcburg.
Come join us for an enjoyable eve-
ning of entertainment.

Wood carving class is a big success
The Hondo area Chamber of
Commerce is sponsoring a wood-
carving class on Wednesday nights,
6:30 - 9:30 p.m., at the Community
Center.
The response to the class has been
fantastic approximately 20 people
have signed up and arc taking the
course.
Instructor Bill Williams invites
others who are interested in learning
to carve to join us Jan. 5.
You start out on something simple
and work at your own speed. We
have people carving for their first
time and we also have some very
talented carvers, who are willing to

New Year's Eve Dance
The annual New year's Eve dance
will be held at the parish hall in
D'Hanis from 8 to 12, Friday night,
Dec. 31. Admission will be $6 and
the music will be by the Tony Koch
band.
The D'Hanis-Hondo Rook Club
met for their after Christmas party at
the home of Carol Long Tuesday
night.
Supper was served consisting of
enchiladas, rice, beans, tortillas and
frito salad. A variety of cookies and
candy was served for dessert.
Lucky prize winners were high,
Martina Saathoff; second high,
JoAnn Pocmer; low, Mary Lutz; and
Consolation, Mary Bcndcle.
The January party will be at the
home of Anne Sowa.

Austin Sunday where they had their
Christmas family gathering at the
home of.John and Lucy Needham
and family.

Shortly after commissioners court
adjourns Monday, County Judge
Donald E. Campsey and Precinct 3
Commissioner Enrique G. Santos
will depart for the Texas A&M Uni-
versity Center Complex at College
Station, Texas. They will be making
the trip to attend the 36th County
Judges and Commissioners' Annual
Conference & Educational Exposi-
tion.
The program, Jan. 3-5, is spon-
sored by the V. G. Youhg Institute of
County Government, the Texas
A&M University System in coopera-
tion with the County Judges and
Commissioners Association of Texas
and the Texas Association of Coun-
ties. Curriculum 2000 will com-
mence with the conference.
County judges and commissioners
who attend all of the special and
general sessions will receive 16
credit hours from the Office of Con-
tinuing Education at Texas A&M.
Commissioners will be able to apply
these credit hours toward their annual
mandatory minimum continuing
education requirement.
The keynote address will be Tue.,
11:30 a.m., by Governor Ann
. Richards.
