invited to attend the

letter was addressed to

Mr. Speed left the office of
Mayor almost a year ago
and while we think, well of
his tenure of office, our
neighboring towns (the

of Commerce does not
know that the '"Little

A program'of interest to all area
sorghum producers is planned for
the Hondo City Hall building at
7:30 p.m: on January 19, according
to Glenn Gooding.
Elmer Hart, executive director of
the Texas Grain Sorghum lYo-
ducers Association, will be in
Hondo to discuss aspects of the
present farm program and how it
affects the several hundred local
area producers. •. -
"We invite all area grain sor-
ghum producer^, be they large or
s nw 11 .acrea ge far me rs," Gooding
said.
Gooding cifed a recent $10,000,
donation to the Texas Grain
Sorghum Producers Board by’ the
M. G. and Johnnye D. Perry
Foundation as an example of what
is being done for all producers.
It was, presented in the hopes
that it would help the Board ' in
obtaining additional worldwide
markets and Ix'tter prices for the
U.S. grain sorghum producers."
The Foundation, as does the
Board, seeks to acquire mote
economical methods of production
through reseaYch and education,
and recently began concentrating
some of its attention on the
marketing aspects of agricultural
products.. y
On. recent actkin by TGSPB was
to host more than 70 potential grain
customers from Japan. Polqnd,
Korea and Taiwan in an attempt to
educate them to the value of
American grain and to the most
efficient ways of utilizing the grain
-they produce as we.ll as the gr up
they will import.
