CKC performs at San Antonio Church
The Castroville Karate Club per-
formed two demonstrations for the
Oak Hills Church of Christ day camp
last week in San Antonio. The dem-
onstration was designed to show the
audience the dynamic kicks of Tae
Kwon Do, the exciting throws of
Hapkido, and to emphasize that Tae
Kwon Do can be taught right along
with Christianity.
After a short talk on the benefits of
Tae Kwon Do and how it parallels
Christianity, two-time A.A.U. Tae
Kwon Do National Champion Danny
Rodriquez gave an exciting demonstra-
tion of the explosive high flying kicks
for which Tae Kwon Do is famous.
Next Mr. Gary Pieratt demon-
strated Hapkido on Rodriquez, flip-
ping him around the mat and also
showing the audience how to con-
trol a person without hurting them.
The program also had a “hands on"
section in which the participants ac-
tually learned some Tae Kwon Do
techniques.
Following that Andrea Pieratt, 1998
and 1999 AAU Texas State Cham-
pion, dazzled the crowd with her mu-
sical form, performed to the “Eye of
the Tiger.” Upon special request, An-
drea performed Koryo, the form for
which she won the Texas gold medal
at the AAU State Championships.
“Tae Kwon Do is more than just
kicks and punches," said Gary Pieratt.
“It’s about becoming a better person.”
If any organization or church would
like to see a performance, call 931-
2997.
