Chamber Comer
• Well, we’re gearing up for
our two fundraisers.... Yes, the
Wild Game Dinner is just a few
weeks away as is Christmas in
God’s Country. Advance ad-
mission tickets to the Dinner are
available at the Chamber as are
the drawing tickets - you can
actually see the prizes at H&H
Pawn as well as purchase tick-
ets there. If we haven’t notified
you, but you’d like to help with
either event, just come by, call
a Director, or give us a call and
leave a message. {With SEV-
ERAL projects going right now
we’re not always blessed with
enough hours in the day).
Vance Tomey, our meat pro-
curer and racker-up of miles, (I
know, I know - not proper En-
glish!!} tells us we could still
use doves, Directors Brenda
Journey, Robert Byerly and
Olen Thompson are busily
heading up the donations de-
partment, Member Lupe
Alvarez and his team are get-
ting their utensils ready to cook
whatever Vance brjngs them,
and just to make sure we’re
ready.
• Regarding.the Christmas
event, we do want to remind ev-
eryone that parade applications
have been out for some time
now, so if you want to be in the
parade, but haven’t told anyone,
now would be a good time to
call the Chamber so we can add
you to our list. And, if .you’re
one of the hundreds of specta-
tors, the route will be the same
as usual. We are proud to an-
nounce that “retiree” Dr. John
Jennings will be our Grand
Marshal ~ he has served this
community well for many years
and we wanted this to be a spe-
cial tribute to that service.
• Don’t forget the Meyer
PTO playground equipment
fundraiser tickets... deadline’s
coming up soon!!! It’s a very
worthy cause and we do hope
you’ll support it.
• In the Member Corner:
Happy Anniversary to Raye
Theater {stick around Friday
for their FUEE outdoor presen-
tation of the Addams Family),
note of thanks to Enterprise
Rent A Car for their Hallow-
een goodies and to Tina Roach
for all the picture taking in town
- she’s done a great job of be-
ing at some of our Ribbon Cut-
tings, Hondo Healthcare for
their Halloween costume party,
etc. etc. etc. It was good to see
Everett Torres this week {he’s
home cause it’s getting too cold
in Illinois!}.
If you’re looking for some-
thing to do Saturday..... help
support Pastor David Mayer
and the Ministerial Alliance
with the CROP Walk. They’re
still looking for walkers and
folks to help collect the dona-
tions at the beginning of the
walk. Show up at HISD track
around 9:00 a.m. and I’m sure
there will be something for you
to do. Quoting from the Pastor
“the fun is in walking as a com-
munity and the cause is to raise
money and awareness for the
hungry of the world”. {How it
works - walkers get pledges for
walking....so you can either be
a walker or a donor. Maybe we
can make this time the begin-
ning of the Thanksgiving sea-
son}.
And, Sandra Sexton at
HISD heading up the new com-
puter lab starting in November.
With exception of holidays,
ne Barbutti, executive director
availability of equipment will
actually be split between Hondo

computer time for anyone who
may not have those resources at
home or (like all of us from
time to time} have a project we
need to Finish but our computer
has decided to take an extended
vacation!! It is a free service,
with exception of printing costs
or disks to save information.
Internet will be available for
research and general browsing,
with safeguards for use by chil-
dren or potential identity theft.
If you’re interested give Sandra
a call at 931-5389.
• If you’re looking for a fun
and safe time for the kiddoes for
Hallpween, don’t forget all the
Halloween costume parties go-
ing on. There are many safe
places to go for all our little gob-
lins and ghosts to have fun.

this earth who can use YOUR
ability.
