Slippery Roads Require
Common-Sense Driving
Common sense would tell
you that wet roads mean you
cannot stop as fast, accelerate
as crisply, or maneuver as well
as you can on dry roads. Un-
fortunately, this does not seem
to get through to some drivers.
They go on treating rain, with
its attendant slippery road sur-
faces and reduced visibility,
more as an inconvenience than
as a hazard.
The wise driver will reduce
speed and become very cau-
tious if it starts to rain. The
wise-guy driver will simply ig-
nore the rain and proceed to
endanger other motorists. To
help turn the odds in your
favor, here are a few wet
weather tips:
• Turn on your headlights —
not your parking lights — to

WOULDN’T YOU BE A LITTLE CURIOUS?
Wouldn’t you be just a little curious if the following blank
places were actually found in your Bible?
(1.) He that believeth and is—shall be saved. (Mark 16:16)
(2.) Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be—everyone
of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins
and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)
(3.) And now why tamest thou? Arise and be -and wash
away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (Acts 22:16)
(4.) “The like figure whereunto even—doth also now save
us...” (1 Pet. 3:21)
Now if those blanks were actually found in your Bible, you
wSuld taS6'l?i>ack to the person who sold it to you and say:
. , “Why, % Bijtye.y.OT,&qld, me is not complete. It has blank
'ipots in it. Some of the most important words are obviously
left out!”
Yet those blanks are filled in your Bible, and yet some of
you reply: “Oh, well, I know it says baptism, but maybe it
doesn't mean, what it says. Besides, baptism is a work and
you can’t be saved by works." It is a strange religion indeed
that makes a man more interested in blank spots than in the
word of Godl
True, baptism is a work, but it is a work of God and not of
man. (Luke 7:30) A man cannot be saved on the basis of faith
only...(Jas. 2:24) but by works also. This is why Peter told
them on Pentecost to “save yourselves...XActs 2:40) Jesus
said the same thing in Matt. 7:21. Who can argue with God’s
word?
Baptism is an essential part of God’s plan of salvation. You
must be baptized before you can be forgiven your sins and be
saved. That is God’s lawl
For free non-denominational, graded, Bible correspon-
dence course, call or write. No one will call on you. A
completion certificate will be given. For private study call
for an appointment. Welcome to all services.

Cold Wind
The discomfort created by a
brisk winter wind can make a
liar out of the thermometer.
For instance, a 30-mile-per-hour
wind combined with a tempera-
ture of 30 F can have the same
chilling effect on the body as a
-2 F reading.

CB Channels
Any owner of a citizen’s
band radio can tell you of the
feeling of assurance it provides
while traveling on the
highways.
Channel 9 is monitored by
“smokeys” (CB talk for
police) and others; it is reserv-
ed for emergencies. Other
channels are useful, too, in
providing road and traffic in-
formation. Learning of a traf-
fic tie-up in time to enable you
to take a detour saves time and
gas.
The most common channel
for traffic information is
Channel 19 and it is used for
this purpose in every state in
the U.S., in the District of Co-
lumbia and in Canada.
You should also be aware
that CBers in many states and
Canada also use other addi-
tional channels. Channel-
hopping is advisable.
