Of FFA Addresses
Bartlett Students
Benny Mays State President
of the FFA nddressed the stu-
dent body last Thursday. Ben-
ny was elected to his post at
the thirty-fifth annual FFA
Convention in Lubbock last
July 17-19. He is from the Sul-
phur Springs FFA Chapter in
Area VI.
Benny spoke on what he
called his favorite subject
"Americanism." Ho sited an in-
cident related to him by a
friend whose parents are miss-
ionaries in Chile. In that coun-
try a woman sold all of her
furniture to put out a small
Communist newspaper. The
friend said he wondered how
many people in America would
do the same thing to further
capitalism.
He closed his talk with the
poem "I am only one but I
am one. I can't do much but I
can do something ..."
In an informal interview
Benny said that he enjoyed his
position very much because it
gave him an opportunity to
tell others about the FFA as
well as providing good train-
ing for him. This year he does
not go to school. He travels all
over Texas giving talks. In
one day Benny speaks to as
many as seven ditlerent
groups. He never knows what
type of talk they would like to
have until he arrives.
The hardest part is staying
on time. If at any place he
stays too long his whole day
is off schedule.
Benny plans to enter college
next year but the exact school
has not been chosen as yet. He
plans to major in government
and enter politics in the future.

concept of Total Performance proven in open competition."

Here's what the Motor Trends
Award means to you...
The editors of Motor Trend America's
largest general automotive magazine
watched Ford's total performance in opea
competition . . . saw competition-modified
Fords win every 600-miIo stock car race in
the last year saw Ford-built engines end
an era at Indianapolis and sweep the
sports car circuits.
Then they drove the 1964 Fords
Falcons Fairlanea and Thunderbirds and
discovered how the lessons of open compe-
tition have helped breed into them a new .
kind of total performance for the open road
for your kind of driving. And then they
made their award 1
The "Car of the Year" Award Is an im-
