Mrs. Clyde Jones publisher
of the Holland Progress told us
this week that she had to take
tranquilizers because of the
strain she had to endure in try-
ing to meet her payroll. Then
she remarked "Now I can't af-
ford the tranquilizers as they
are up to $5.00 per bottle.
The landscaping committee
has planted 15 non-bearing mul-
berry trees five non-bearing
cottonwood and four pecan
trees on the grounds of the park
surrounding the swimming pool.
Some of the trees were not
planted as originally planned as
some stakes were moved by mis-
chevious persons. Our thanks to
Billy White for his assistance
and cooperation in the planting.

In a conversation with Mr.
Fred Blair this week we learn-
ed that his granddaughter Su-
san Pyle has made the Nation
al Honor Society. Blair Pyle his
grandson received honorable
mention for his sketches for
P. T.-A. exhibit. Gee ! how these
grandparents take an interest
in the activities of their grand
children. Gee Suzanne our
granddaughter has already
taught me two steps in ballet!
Therp is' rpnllv nnrhintr lilro if
I just hope tnat I don't break
my old stiff toes. You see I
haven't had ballet.
Ruben Nixon and son Ken
locked themselves in the bath-
room of the Clyde Moore home
one evening last week. "Butch"
Moore crawled through the
window and tried to retrieve
them but without success.
Can't you visualize that long-
legged Ruben crawling through
a bathroom window? He made
it as we saw him in town Mon-
day. Jewel and "Bull" Brune told
us this week that their brother-in-law
Harley Thomas of Rich-
ardson is a member of the
Toastmaster's Club and is tak-
ing a course in speaking. Can
you imagine Harley needing
such a course? When he made
his home here we never noticed
that he was ever at a loss for
words. Harley don't waste
your time and money; if you
haven't changed you can talk
yourself out of any or all situa-
tions. The Republican party had a
picnic Tuesday when New
Hampshire cast its vote for the
future president of the United
States. Senator Lodge who was
out of the country placed first
and Goldwater Rockefeller and
Nixon trailed in that order. Of-
course we are Democrats and
aren't too concerned about the
poll of only one state of these
United States. We are for the
Democratic nominee and we
feel sure that we will have a
Democratic president regardless
of what New Hampshire does.
We'll wait and see what happens
in California on June 2nd. Nat
urally we are really .interested
in the election of a Democratic
president next November.
Last week was a week I won't
forget soon. My eldest sister
Mrs. Virgil Hutchens of Mexia
visited in our home. She is be-
tween 75 and 80 years of ace
anck-can- talki.mgre-.thaniabV
She and I went to" Dallas to vis
it my "Ground Hog" sister Mrs.
M. H. Louder and then went to
Jacksonville to visit our timid
reserved and dignified sister

MrS. Arch McMillan Oh What
a visit I
We four sisters had never
had such a visit during our en-
tire life-time. I being the baby
of the family got tucked into
bed three nights in succession.
Believe it or not I didn't have
to wash a dish cook a meal dry
a dish or do any work for four
days. I could kick myself for not
getting better acquainted earl
ier in life. If my "Ground Hog"
sister hadn't seen her shadow
on Feb. 2 I wouldn't have had
to do all that ridingin the rain!

Western Auto Has
Catalog Center
The Bartlett Western Auto
dealer store owned by Ford T.
Mann this week announced the
opening of a now catalog order
center as an added service for
customers in this area.
Mann said the new service is
part of a nation-wide catalog-
program being launched by
Western Auto at this time.
Mann pointed out that the
new catalog order service en-
ables him to offer literally
thousands of merchandise items
which space would not permit
him to display in his store.
