Many Silsbee Youths Earn Awards
While Attending Summer Camps
Summer is half over and
Silsbee children are returning
home after a month of camp
fun. Attending Camp Stewart
in Hunt, Texas from this area
was Scott White who received
the riflery award for progress.
Scott was also a member of the
Stewart Band. He is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Bryan White.
Jimmy and Stuart Perlitz
also attended Camp Stewart.
Jimmy and Stuart were select-
ed to be members of “Uncle
Bill's Team” that is chosen by
the counselors and campers.
They were also two out of 10
campers to be named “Man of
Stewart".
Stuart Perlite also received
progress awards in riflery
swimming and conoeing. Jim-
my was a member of the tennis
team and Stuart was a member
of the rifle team that compete
with other camps in the area.
Jimmy and Stuart are the sons
of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Perlite.
Josh Elmore was also chosen
as a member of Uncle Bill's
team and named “Man of
Stewart" and became a mem-
ber of the Hall of Honor. He is
the soh of Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Elmore of Beaumont'and the
grandson of Herbert Elmore of
Silsbee.
Mary Arvilla Perlits attend-'
ed Camp Waldemar in Hunt,
Texas and was one of three
campers in her tribe that
received high Point Intermedi-
ate. She was also named by her
tribe as having a perfect record
card.

Gary Grisham, son of Mr. and ,
Mn. E. R. Grisham Jr„ Rt. 6
Box 230, Silsbee, has been
chosen aa a participant in the
Assemblies of God internation-
al youth witnessing program,
Ambassadors in Mission (AIM).
He has been assigned to a team
that will visit Tequidgalpa,
Honduras, Central America.
Gary will participate in num-
erous forma of evangelism
including door-to-door visita-
tion, choral appearances, and
an evangelistic crusade. The
group will be in Tequidgalpa
for approximately three weeks.
Since the program was initi-
ated in 1966, an estimated 4,600
young people, ages 16 to 24
have traveled to 33 countries
and have seen 48,000 people
accept the Christian faith. The
Rev. J. Phillip Hogan, execu-
tive director of the Division of
Foreign Missions of the Assem-
blies of God, reports that many
candidates for foreign missions
service said they received
incentive for missions work
through partidpating in an
AIM outreach.
Several hundred Assemblies
of God young people will be
involved in the overseas AIM
Program this summer. Teams
will be assigned to such coun-
tries as Belgium, Belize, Ca-
nary Islands, England, Hon-
duras, Peru, Ecuador, Para-
guay, Puerto Rico, Spain, and
Mexico.
Most of the AIMers visiting
foreign countries will be paired
with national young people
for house-to-house visitation.
When the AIM teams leave, the
national churches will imple-
ment a six-phase follow-up
program to retain new con-
verts.
Several thousand Assemblies
of God young people partidpate
in AIM annually. Approximate-
ly ninety percent of the partki-
pants are involved in outreach
es that are conducted within
the continental United States.
Gary has recently been elect-
ed president of the Christ
Ambassadors of the Neches
Valley section.
Frank McGuire Is
Attending Music
Comp At Kansas U
LAWRENCE, KS-Students
from 24 states are spending
four weeks at The University of
Kansas this summer attending
the senior high music section of
Midwestern Music and Art
Camp.
Enrollment in the 1978 musk
camp is 189 students, according
to Robert E. Foster, director of
the annual camp.
Music campers enrolled on
Sunday, June 26, and will
remain on the campus through
JUly 22. During their stay,
students receive intensive
training in both instrumental
and vocal muaic. Campers
perform once weekly In large
groups and also appear in small
ensembles.
Of the 189 ftudents enrolled
this summer, 78 are from
Kansas and 116 from out-of-
state.
Among music students parti-
dpating in Midwestern Musk
and Art Camp at K.U. is Frank
McGuire, 129 Inwood Drive,
Silsbee, trumpet.
Silsbee To Send
11 To Texas
Coaching School
Silsbee schools will send 11
football coaches to the 46th
annual Texas Coaching School
in Houston July 26-29, Ray
McGallion, athletic director,
announced.
Headquarters trill be at the
Astro Village Hotel with exhi-
bits and lectures to be held in
the Aatrohall and arena. Wives’
headquarters trill be at the
Marriott Hotel. Plenty of activ-
ities are planned for the ladies,
according to the program re-
leased by the coaches associa-
tion.
McGallion said all coaches in
both senior and junior high
schools will make thq trip.
Following the school Coach Pat
Day and his high school assis-
tants will get into high gear
readying for the first football
practice in August.
