Q Is there a limit on the
number of time* a loan can be
made on a VA insurance policy?
A There is no limit on the
number of times a veteran can
borrow on a permanent plan of
insurance. However, the loan
amount can never exceed 94
percent of the accumulated
reserve value of the policy. If
the veteran does not want to
borrow the maximum amount,
another loan application may be
submitted at any time for the
remainder.
Q I am an 80-year old widow
with a limited income. My son
was killed in service during
World War II. Am I eligible for
any benefits from the Veterans
Administration?
A -Parents are eligible for
death benefits if their income is
insufficient to provide them
with a reasonable standard of
living. Proof of your relation
ship to the veteran must be
submitted with the application
for death benefits.
Q-I have a GI home loan and
I am considering selling my
home to purchase another.
What can I do to have my
entitlement restored to obtain
another GI home loan?
A A veteran may qualify for
restoration if the VA has been
relieved of liability on the GI
loan. Normally this is accomp-
lished by selling the property
and paying off the loan in full.
Another way is for a veteran
buyer to agree to substit ute his
or her entitlement for that of
the original veteran borrower
and meet all other require-
ments for entitlement.
Q Are children of deceased
veterans elegible for GI home
loans from the V A?
A-Children of deceased vet
erans are not eligible for a GI
home loan.
Q When I recently applied
for a VA guaranteed home loan
1 was advised it could not be
processed until I repaid an
outstanding debt for VQ educa
tional assistance. Is this cor-
rect?
A Y es. It is the V A policy to
reconcile all outstanding debts
to the U. S. Goverment prior to
approving a home loan applica
tion.
Q I have been participating
in the work-study program but
circumstances have forced me
to withdraw from school. How
can I satisfy my obligation on
the remaining hours of the
work study contract?
A--You can work the remain
ing hours for which you receiv
ed advance payment.
