presiding officer for the meet-
ing, which was well attended
and preceded by a family-nigtat
covered dish supper.
Thc Conference voted accep-
tance of the preliminary draw-
ings for the church as submit-
ted by the architect, D. Rex
Goode of Beaumont, who was
aiso present. The new building,
which includes a sanctuary
seating approximately 275, plus
overflow accomodations for 60
additional persons, for a maxi-
mum capacity of 335, will be
joined to the present educa-
tional building which was built
in 1956 at a cost of $30,000. The
new facilities will also include
a pastor’s study and church of-
fices, a choir room and three
additional rooms. Earl estima
ted cost of the building and
equipment is $70,000.
Also accepted were the plans
for the new parsonage contain-
ing three bedrooms, two baths,
living room, family room and
kitchen, with double carport.
Estimated cost of the parsonage
is $12,500. Both buildings are
to be constructed of brick.
Building is expected to be-
gin in the near future. The
architect is now drawing the
working plans in detail and will
submit them for final approval
within the next three months.
Actual construction must await
thc completion of gifts totaling
$10,000 in the building fund in
keeping with inatructioruufrom
the church. There is currently
over $8,500 in the fund. The in-
vitation has been made to any-
one who would like to share in
thc fulfillment of these plans
to make a gift to thc Building
Fund of thc First Methodist
Church. Memorial gifts will be
recorded in a Book of Remem-
brances to be placed in toe
