The rural mail carries and post
masters of this and Lavaca coun-
ty will meet here on the evening of
Sept. 13 and will discuss subjects
of interest in connection with their
work. Among these the improve-
ments of the roads traversed by the
carriers will be very prominent.
The local carriers and the employes
; of the postoffice are to act as hosts
I and they wish to see that all who
' come are well treated. It may be
I that they will call on you to be of
l a little assistance in the matter
and the business men, it is hoped,
will cheerfully help. The import-
ance of good roads to the merchants
of Cuero cannot be easily exagger-
ated and it is hoped they will fall
in and co-operate with every effort
for improvement. The postal
authorities are now writing to all
the commissioners, urging them to
improve the roads and stating that
free rural delivery will be cut out
when the roads are not properly
kept up. Route No. 4 is already
in danger and the road it covers
must be fixed up or it will be cut
out. At any rate, let all whd can
help the local postmen with pre-
paiations for the meeting to come
off in September. Maybe some-
thing lor the general good will be
started there.
