Still a Mystery.
It is said that it seems to be consi-
derable of a mystery as who did the
shooting that killed the woman in
Karnes county while with a chari-
vari party a few weeks ago. The
woman was a good friend of the
man Richardson, it is said, and
had baked two cakes for him on
the occasion of his wedding and
when the party came up to the
house he and a few friends were
sitting at a table eating one of the
cakes. He fired five shots and
someone else fired two shots, ac-
cording to the testimony of those
near there. People at some little
distance said there were twelve or
fifteen shots fired. The man in-
dicted claims he fired due east out
of a door, but the woman was liv-
ing on the sonth side of the house,
where he coaid not possibly have
hit her, if he had shot toward, the
east directly out of the door. A
young lady who was present swore
that he did shoot just this way/
The husband of the woman killed
admits that he fired two shots, but
how it will come oat when the case
is tried is another question.
