Of Conference
First Baptist
Church
The annual session of the
Sulphur Springs District Con-
ference of the Methodist
Church will be held at the
Winnsboro Methodist Church
Monday beginning at 8 o’clock,
with the Rev. Leslie W, Sey-
mour, district superintendent,
presiding. The routine business
of the conference will be con-
ducted in the afternoon ses-
sion with reports from the 60
church congregations of the
district being presented.
The various educational,
missionary and benevolent
causes of the chureh will be
emphasized in a panel discus-
sion forum shared in by of-
ficial representatives of these
agencies as well as by laymen
and pastors within the district.
Leaders of the opening wor-
ship period for this session
will be the Rev. Karens Fang,
a senior ministerial atndent
from Malaya attending South-
western University at George-
town, sponsored and supported
in his work by the churches of
this district.
After dinner served at 8-15
by the women of the Winns-
boro church the evening pro-
gram will begin at 7:30 and
will feature a 30 minute per-
iod of musk by the Sulphur
Springs District Youth Choir
under the direction of Bob
Davis, high school band direct-
or at Winnsboro. The choir wili
present three anthems, "Glory
to* God” by Rachmaninoff,
“Lord, for Thy Tender Mer-
cies’ Sake” by Farrant, and
“Let There Be Light” by Born-
schein. They will also lead the
assembled congregation in
singing Christmas hymns and
carols selected from the church
hymnal.
The speaker for the evening
will be Dr. James Hares, s
member of the faculty of Ppt-
kins School of Theology in
Dallas and also on the staff
of Highland Park Methodist
Church as minister of member-
ship development. He serves
also as a member of the church
school curriculum committee of
the Methodist Church at large.
This evening service is spon-
sored by the laymen of the
district with Erbie Aiken of
Clarksville as district lay
leader. The Rev. Buist Wilson
will he pastor host.
Dr. Franklin M. Segler is to
be the guest preacher for both
warship services tedsy at First
Baptist Church. He is profes-
sor in the Department of Pas-
toral Ministry at Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary,
Fort Worth. Sunday School be-
gins at 9:46 a. m. following a
meeting in the committee room
of all superintendents of the
Sunday School, at 9:16. The
sanctuary choir will provide
special music at the 11 o’clock
