Ford division of Ford Motor
Company released first official
photographs of the Falcon today
and said it expects to build KXJ.
000 of these new economy cars
by the end of 1959
James O Wright, company vice-
president and Ford division gen
era I manager said the keynote
of the Falcon will be economy of
operation and maintenance
Far example, he said, the Fal-
1 on will have gasoline economy
50 per cent better than the larg
est of the socalled compact cars
of American manufacture and 35
per cent better than the smallest
domestic car made by the same
producer Compared with the lat
ter, the Falcon has 35 per cent
more luggage space, 70 per cent
more windshield area, and a full
foot more rear seat width
Mr Wright said that in the area
of replacement parts a Falcon
fender will cost 50 per cent less,
a windshield 40 per cent less and
a muffler 30 per cent less
Falcon's water cooled, front
mounted engine, he said, will re
'luire only St 80 worth of anti
freeze in the winter—50 per cent
less than a full size car
The Falcon will be introduced
publicly October 8 at 7,000 Ford
division dealerships across the
country
Mr Wright said the Falcon
combines c< inomy of operation
and smaller exterior dimensions
with ruggedness, big car roada
bilily and passenger space com
parable to standard cars. Its
wheelbase is O'z inches shorter
and its overall length 27 inches

GENERAL MOTORS
LLANO, TEXAS
Perhaps you have read of the action already
taken by General Motors Corporation to advance
GMC Truck & Coach Division in the growing field
of commercial transportation.
This program—known at GMC as "Operation
High Gear' is the greatest engineering, manu-
facturing and quality control program ever
undertaken in the industry.
It already has produced new, cost cutting con-
cepts of vehicle design in heavy duty highway
tractors and the time is approaching when this
program will culminate in a full line of the most
advanced trucks developed over the past twenty
years — W ton pickups to giant 60-ton haulers.
To the able and aggressive businessman quali-
fying for this opening there lies ahead an exciting
product, a profitable relationship and a secure
future. Write or phone today for further details.
