Woman slain
so teens could
use her car
FORT WORTH (AP) — A 15-
year-old girl and her two com-
panions shot a woman to death so
they could drive her car to a teen
club, police say.
The three were arrested in con-
nection with the April 28 shooting
death of Lisa Pete, 23, an aspiring
model, so they could drive her car.
Ms. Pete’s body was found be-
side a street. She had been shot
twice in the back with a .32-caliber
pistol, police said.
Fort Worth Police Sgt. Paul
Kratz said the girls, one 15 and the
others 16, are being held at the Tar-
rant County Juvenile Detention
Center. Their names cannot be
released because they are juveniles.
The girls are the offspring of
parents hooked on drugs, Kratz
said.
“These are the children of the
drug problem,’’ he said. “This is
what the problem is spawiupg for
us. These are unsupervised lads.”
Kratz said he will ask prosecu-
tors to have them certified as adults
so they can be tried on capital mur-
der charges.
It is unusual tc arrest girls sc
young on such a serious charge,
Kratz said. He said girls who do
commit such crimes do so with
their boyfriends.
“They usually don’t do anything
like this on their own,” Kratz said.
