league championship, The second
game of the series will be played in
Richland Springs next Sunday.
The tussle was marked by poor
fielding on both sides, dumb base run-
ning by Richland, heavy hitting by
both clubs, and good pitching by
Brooks Page of Brownwood. Page
was taken from the box in the eighth,
after being hit on his pitching hand
by a liner from Brown's bat; being
replaced by Spec Smith, Bear short
stop. This move came near to being
disastrous to the home team, as Rich-
.and rallied to push across seven runs
ic the last two innings. However, B.
Page won the hall game when he
drove out a long homer in the last, of
the eighth, to score Chrane and Gor-
man ahead of hint.
Parker, for Richland, led both
clubs in driving in runs, his triple
scored Brown ir. the eighth, and hi
homer to right, center in the nintli
sent Hayes and Brown home ahead
of himself. Hayes at short stop for
Richland, and Mitchell at second base
for Brownwood were outstanding on
tiie defense. Armstrong and Hodge
were the only two players who failed
t > hit safely. Brownwood broke
series record of five years standing by
banging out three triples during the
ga me.

Little Known Facts About Banking
Just What are
Commercial Loans?
1
Commercial bank loans render an im-
portant service to business. They,
/‘bridge the wait” which the seller of
goods would otherwise have before
getting his money from the buyer.
In such cases, the bank is not lending
on an uncertainty, but on what might be
called a ‘‘delayed certainty.”
The loan is well secured and the char-
acter and responsibility of both parties
are known. The banker knows that the
transaction will be self-completing and
self-paying within a definitely short time.
'A This is the fundamental principle
back of all sound commercial loans. It
should be understood by every borrower.
