BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

1A/IIAT are yon doing to stay healthy? Notice I diifn't
yV ask what you know about good health. There's a
hig difference. That's a point Dr. Noil Solomon
'• made to readers in his newspaper column. He stated, "So
■you'd like to stay healthy; most people would. Fine, what
are you doing about it? " Then he concluded, "I've always
been puzzled that so many people take better care of (heir
cars.than they do of themselves. Remember-, many diseases
become, inevitable only when people become susceptible
to then; by not taking care of themselves." -t*
—Let s apply this to another area of life. What are we"
doing to slay spiritually healthy? Again I don't mean what
do we know oJbbut staying spiritually healthy. Most of us
are ‘well-versed on that subject. We re familiar witli what
our Lord Had to say about keeping our hearts in good
shape. He told us that those who ate blest are the poor
in spirit. They mourn over sin. They are meek. They lumgery
and thirst after right ways. They are merciful, pure in heart
peacemakers (Mt. 5). Most of us learned these laws ®f
spiritual health when we were children. The question/is
what are we doing about them? .Unfortunately, after/all
is said and done, a lot more, is usually said than dd
Nineteen hundred, years haven't changed human nature.
That’s why our Lord, after giving His disciples the Sermon
on the Mount, encouraged them to pray for the ability to
live out those principles (Mf. 6:9-13; 7:7-12). He then re-
minded them that a wise man doesn’t just hear—he hears
and does something about it. And that still holds true
today! —M.R.D. II
