Chevrolet Stresses Quality In 1972
Models To Be Introduced September 23
Detriot Quality is the key-
note of the Chevrolet Motor Di
vision's 1972 product program.
John Z. DeLorean general
manager pledge that the 1972
models scheduled for public in-
troduction September 23 will be
the best in Chevrolet's history.
"Front the luxury Caprice to
the Economy Vega" DeLorean

ges in our 1972 models to refine-
ments and product improve-
ments while wo concentrate on
building each car better than
ever before.
"Every one of our car lines is
designed to meet the consumer
emphasis on maximum value and
quality in an automotive pur-

styling. It also has heavier
stronger bumpers that extend
farther away from the body

proved bumper impact protec-
tion. Chevelle Monte Carlo and
Camaro have front end styling
refinements and all car lines in-
cluding Station Wagons Nova
and Corvette have engine chas-
sis and durability improve
ments. An anti-theft warning
system becomes standard on
Corvette.

vention and anti-theft protec-
tion. Chevrolet offers 15 Magic
Mirror colors for 1972 of which
10 are new. There are. six two-
tone color combinations. New
for 1972 are a "wet look" ap-
. pearance of the five vinyl roof
colors and a single wider white

The nine Caprice Impala Bel
Air and Biscayne models fea-
ture rounded glass and body

passenger visibility and inter
ior roominess.
There is added body insula
tion in 1972 to reduce interior
sound level for a quieter ride.
The power flow-through venti-
lation system has outlets built
into door pillars for more ac
curate control of air flow.
Caprice models which offer
Chevrolet's peak luxury have
an exclusive chrome bold gold
grille full length side moldings
with a color insert rear fender
skirts full wheel covers and
special interior appointments. A
400 cubic inch v- engine is
standard on Caprice models.
Chevrolet's 121.5 inch wheel-
base chassis has more durable
and better tuned shock absorb-
ers for more smoother express-
way ride plus refined front sus-
pension geometry for improved
directional control. There are
computer-selected springs at all
wheels and an advanced 4-link
rear suspension system.
Power brakes with front
discs and variable ratio power
steering are standard on all re-
gular Chevrolets. Turbo Hydra-
matic automatic transmission is
standard on all V-8 equipped
models. Three-speed manual or
optional Powerglide transmis-
sions are available with the 250
cubic inch six cylinder engine.
The base V-8 is 350 cubic inches.

Otto Gus Bricger 81 of Rich-
mond Calif. and former resi-
dent of the local area died early
Saturday morning in his home
after a short illness.
Funeral services were con-
ducted at 11 a. m. Tuesday at
the Wilson and Kratzer Civic
Center Funeral Home conduct-
ed by the Rev. Walter Lacy

A completely redesigned
Torino and Thunderbird fea-
turing major under-the-skin
changes and increased interior
room highlight Ford Divi-
sion's 1972 product story.
"For 1972 we will offer
the most attractive best per-
forming safest and cleanest
cars in our history" said John
Naughton Ford vice president
and Ford Division general
manager. "Pinto and Maver-
erick should continue their
growing appeal to small car
buyers. Mustang's leadership
in the sporty compact segment
should remain firm."
"We think the Torino's new
styling and engineering advan
cements will spur our interme-
diate sales in 1972 while the
big Ford should continue its
steady climb on the sales
charts" Mr. Naughhton said.
"Thunderbird for 1972 creates
a new elegance combined with
an improved ride and in-
creased interior seating room
and luxury."
TORINO
Ford Division's most chang-
ed offering in 1972 is the Tor-
ino. The popular intermediate
features now dimensions sheet
metal and chassis in its great-
est change sinco it was intro-
duced as the .1962 Fairlane.
Torino features body-on-frame
construction new front
and rear- suspensions and se-
parate wheelbasos for two
and four-door models. The in-
terior features a now instru-
ment panel and standard
high-back front bench seats.
For added safety front disc
brakes 'and side impact pro-
lection are' standard.
' Torino will be available nil
nine models and three series -the
Torino Gran Torino and
Grim Torino Sport. Included
among the models for 1972
are three two-door hardtops
three station wagons two fouiv
door pillared hardtops and a
SportsRoof. A unique grille
will distinguish the Torino
from the more luxurious Gray
Torino models.
THUNDERBIRD
The 1972 Thunderbir.d the
division's other all-new car
features new exterior styling
and significantly increased in-
terior room. The Thunderbird
has a new front and a totally
redesigned rear suspension
system called "Posi-Ride." The

The LTD series has a distinc-

ment that sets it apart from
the rest of the Ford line.
An electrically operated sun
roof and an electric roar deck
lid release arc offered as op
lions for the first time on the
Ford line. Attractive rear
bumper guards are standard
on all LTD models except the
Country Squire. Front and rear
bumper guards will be avail
able on all other models.

tually unchanged but offers
refinements to further owner
enjoyment. The only exterior
difference is the rear window
of the Runabout model which
extends eight inches lower
than on the '71 version im-
proving rearward visibility
and adding a sportier appear-
ance. Pinto features several inter-
ior improvements such as car-
peting as standard equipment.
The seat back latches and
headlight dimmer switch have
been relocated for easier ac-
cessibility. Performance of the optional
2000-cc engine is upgraded
and the rear springs and
shock absorbers are modified
for a better ride.
MAVERICK
Maverick's original style
and easy-to-repair features
are retained in 1972. With
more than 700000 sales to its
credit Maverick's changes
include a new insulation pack-
age for quieter ride new color
combinations and the avail-
ability of steelbelted radial ply
tires.
MUSTANG
Mustang America's first
and most successful sporty
compact has refinements for
1972 that complement the
major changes made last year.
New for 1972 is the upgrading
of the base car which includes
as standard equipment wheel
covers racing mirrors rocker
and wheellip moldings and a
deluxe two-spoke steering
