North Hopkins news
A large crowd of fans
followed the North Hopkins
girls basketball team through
the play-off tournament in the
Sulphur Springs High School
gym Thursday, Friday and
Saturday nights.
Wesley Withrow of Garland is
visiting his brother, Francis
and Verda Withrow this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lane,
Kara and Jace spent the
weekend with her grandmother,
Mrs. Rosa Jones.
Verna Mae Jones of
Tawakoni (and Dallas) spent
the weekend with her mother,
Mrs. Myrtis Posey, recently,
The Young Homemakers met
Monday night in the home of
Mrs. Jackie (Mary) Boles,
where Dian Lummus and
Barbara Taylor presented a
musical program following the
regular business routine.
Jeanette and Jerry Willis
hosted a birthday supper
Monday night for their
daughter-in-law, Lois Willis;
Alfred Willis, Herbie and
Brenda Willis also were
present.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jeter of
Cooper visited her mother, Mrs.
Lillian Wood, Saturday af-
ternoon
Elizabeth Wilcox and Nadene
Wyatt, both of Marshall, spent
the weekend with their cousin,
Mrs. Chrysteen Decco. Mrs.
Decco’s son, Richard But-
terfield and children were also
visitors Sunday.
The North Hopkins Extension
Homemakers Club met at 1:30
p.m. Feb. 14 in the home of
Verda Withrow with president
Grace Vaughn presiding. Mrs.
Oleta Watson gave the program
on "Tables With A Flair." She
showed different ways to fold
napkins and set tables. Grace
gave pointers on center pieces,'
using things at home. Delicious
refreshments were served by
hostess Verda Withrow to guest
Imogege Williams, brought by
Grace Vaughn, and Alice
Richey, Katie Nowlin,
Genevieve Jackson, Dorothy
Perry, Jew^l Martin, Oleta
Watson ami' Kathryn Bran-
denburgh.
Sulphur Bluff news
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lawson
and two grandchildren of
Cooper visited his aunt, Lutie
and Clahdy Patterson last
Thursday. The Pattersons were
in Cooper Friday to visit her
mother, Annie France,, in the
nursing home there. She is
doing pretty good. Saturday,
the Pattersons went with their
granddaughter Sandie, Maxie,
Jimmy and Dustie Chster to
Irving to visit 0. C. and Dessie
Murray.
Madie Dawson was in Sulphur
Springs Saturday visiting her
sister, Birtie and C. R. Dowd,
and her brother James Kirby,
and Mrs. Kirby. They had all
planned to go to Dallas Sunday
to attend church services in
Arcadia Park, where another
brother is pastor. Due to icy
roads, they decided not to go.
Hilga Chester continues to
improve and was able to attend
Sunday School Sunday.
David, Phylis and Kathy
Skeen of Houston spent Monday
night with his parents, Barney
and Alma Skeen. They returned
to Houston Tuesday.
Mrs. J. A. lAmar Suei
Ramsey was in Dallas Tuesday
for a check-up and was
dismissed for a month. She did
not have surgery.
Aaron and Maxine Eifling of
Quitman, Miss, arrived here
Tuesday for a couple of days
visit with Ralph and Mary
Vance, Putt and Gertrude
Bassharn and Madie Dawson.
Die group were all together for
supper Tuesday night with the
Vances.
The Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment has been kept real busy
the past few days. The com-
munity is very proud of the Fire
Department.
Maggie Bannister of Dallas is
visiting her sister, Rosa Huie,
and brother Gaudy .and Luie
Patterson.

Indictment quashed
TYLER, Texas (APi - A
state district judge quashed an
indictment Tuesday against a
Dallas man accused in the
shotgun attack of two former
undercover narcotics agents
last year.
Jury selection had already
begun in the trial of Kenneth A.
Bora when judge Donald
Carroll granted a defense
motion throwing out the in-
dicment alleging attempted
capital murder.
The defendant’s attorney,
Charles Tessmer of Dallas,
claimed the language in the
indictment was vague.
