who always wanted'a Rolls but could not afford one, the scale model of a 1934 luxury
touring car built for India's Rajkot Maharaja features an automatic steering mechanism,
working foot brakes/hand brakes, head lamps and side windows that roll up and down. The

DEAR DR LAMB - I've
read about so many different
diets and now I'm concerned
as to what not to eat and what
to eat and how much or how
little, Rseems like.every book
has its own version of the per-
fect diet I sat down one night
and read a number of diets
and almost all of them contra-
dicted each other What's a
person supposed to do1
vegetables and fruits without
added sugar are a good source
of carbohydrates for your
diet
I don't think you sound too
bad and I would hate to see
you on a starvation diet as
some young women are prone
to follow Rather I would like
to see you start an exercise
program
Your description of your
out getting rid of the fat.
Why don’t you exercise and
just eliminate the excess fat,
swells and desserts from your
diet and see if that isn't
enough to help you gradually
improve" yourself without
going on an overly restricted,
diet. , '

I was wondering if there is
any certain diet you could rec-
ommend for me I’m 19-and-
a-half and I’m approximately
5 feet 2 and I weigh 110
pounds I know that may not
• sound too bad but instead of
having the weight distributed
evenly, I’ve got a stomach
that bulges terribly and my
legs are too big Last summer
1 looked fine but during the
winter I got depressed and ate
constantly and, of course, It
all just settled on njg: Is it
possible for me to lose all of
these inches and look like
mvself again’’ I hope so
DEAR READER - Yes,
there’s an unending maze of
information about diets
There are a wide variety of
foods so it's not too'surprising
that you’ll run into a lot of
variation in different diets
that are recommended There
are some basic facts, howev-
er We know that fat contains
more calories than any other
food component. That means
that any diet that intends to
restrict your calories should
limit the fat intake This, in
turn, means eliminating
butter, margarine, cream,
whole milk and removing the
fat from any meat which one
eats, as well as avoiding pre-
paring foods by adding addi-
tional fat as in frying.
Another source of calories,
that can be eliminated is
excess sweets. While you’re on
a reducing diet and trying to
f
limit calories, it s important
to eat foods that provide bulk
and water in them. That’s why
body build suggests that you
should be walking, running
and developing exercises that
use calories, and that you
ought to start some strength
exercises to develop your
arms and shoulders.
Many American women are
particularly weak in the arms
and shoulder area Testing has
shown that large numbers of
women and young girls cannot
even do a single chin-up
That’s mostly from neglect
and lack of training

DEAR DR BLAKER
Our 9-year-old son behaves
terribly*,at school.
He tlijnks nothing of dis-
obeying his teacher He has
even called her bad, names
and used swear words in her
presence
We have done everything
we can think of to stop this
behavior We ev.in had him
evaluated 'Ey a doctor, who
said he is not hyperactive.
We have always prided our-
selves on raising a spirited,
independent child. We have
been proud of him up until
now
He has, in fact, reminded.us
of his grandfather, who said
whatever he wanted to say
whenever he wanted to-say it
We have often remarked in a
pleased way on how much the
boy reminds us of Grandpop
So, now what do we do?
DEAR READER - At a
cocktail party last week, 1
met a man who almost imme-
diately began complaining
about how messy his daughter
ist Evidently she has a habit of
leaving her clothes attend the
house in defiance ofTlTmilv
rules.
Although the complaint
sounded legitimate, the man
smiled broadly as he talked
Never one to resist the thera-
pist’s role for long, I com-
mented on my observation.
He immediately launched
into a five-minute speech on
how proud he is when his
daughter rebels against
authority. He added that her
behavior is not unlike his at
the same age.
If you had been in my shoes
at that party, I’m sure you
would have noticed the double
message the father is giving
his daughter.
While asking her to obey his
orders, he is at the same time
rewarding her for rebellion.

Belgium Pays Beer
Reparations For Slight
MONTREAL (AP) -
Rather than violate its
traditional neutrality by
going to war with Canada’s
•^lihoceros Party, Belgium
has agreed to pay
reparations for what was
termed an act of provocation
against the party’s symbol.
An officials of the Belgian
embassy in Ottawa said
Monday that, as demanded,
the country will send a case
of its best beer and a case of
its best mussels to the
Rhinos' headquarters here.
The Rhinos, an official
political party created to
spoof elections, declared
war on Belgium last week
after reading the adventure
of a Belgian cartoon
character, Tin tin. In one
episode, the big game hunter
blew up a rhinoceros.

Perhaps these conclusions
apply in your situation If so.
you may want to contact a
family therapist to begin
making some changes
In family therapy, the ther-
apist- sees the entire family
even though only one person
seems to be having a problem.
When the troubled person is
a child, it is usually discov-
ered during therapy that'his
or her symptoms are a signal
of some problem in the
parents' relationship •
The symptoms are a mes-
sage to the therapist that the
child is distorting his or her
own growth as a result of
trying to alleviate and absorb
parental pain
It has been found, for exam-
ple. that the child often
improves when the parents
become closer emotionally to
one another, more invested in
each other than they were in
the child
1 hope your family takes
advantage of this opportunity
for growth.
