Food Show was a huge success.
Fourteen Junior 4-H’ers
displayed products from one of
the following categories: bread
and desserts; side dishes; main
dishes; and snacks and
beverages.

Nash, and Billy Edwards will
participate in the County Food
Show, Saturday Jan. 26.

This is the year to pay tribute
to the cranberry — America’s
own native fruit. (The Iridiaas
introduced cranberries to the
pilgrims when they first landed
on -Massachusetts’ rockbound
coast.
In celebration of the little red
berry's year — round ver-
satility into day's menu plan-
ning. Ocean Spray Cranberries,
Inc,, is sponsoring a national
cranberry recipe contest for
women’s clubs. The contest is
national, but the celebration
will really come, to life on the
local level and that means
your dub. This is where (he true
fun and excitement begins.,
Here’s a chance to wirforie of
the important national cash
prizes. For a club activity that
is different, stimulation and
rewarding just stage , your
own club contest.
$2,375 to 40 individual con-
testants and $2,375 to the 40
clubs they represent will be
awarded by the national con-
test. the awards will be made in
five categories of cranberry
recipes: Relishes, sauces and
chutney; breads and muffins
t such' as coffee cakes, waffles
and nut breads. Warm weather
recipes such as salad, ice
cream, dips, barbeques;
desserts such as pies, crepes,
tortes, cobblers, drinks and
punches, such as high •protein
breakfast drinks, party drinks,
favorite combinations, (hot or
cold; with or without alcohol).
Each recipe must use
cranberries as an essential
ingredient. The cranberries
may be fresh cranberries or
any processed form carried by
your grocer.
If .the recipe is original, it
should be so indicated. If, a
recipe is not original, the source
of the recipe must be identified.

WASHINGTON (AP) The
Agriculture Department says
that, while hamburger supplies
may be a bit short, there’s
plenty of onions.
Beef output in February still -
is expected to be only
'.‘adequate” in retail stores, but
[Kirk and broilers will still be in
‘‘plentiful” supply, the
department says.
And onions? The February
-outlook calls for supplies Tb be
up sharply.
Entries must be postmarked by
March 31, 1980.
Oh, yes — A Gran Cran prize
of $1,000 for the person sub-
mitting the recipe judged to be
the best recipe in all categories.
The National Chicken
Cooking Contest awards $20,000
each year to the five best
recipes for using broiler-fryer
chicken (2 or 3 and one-half
pounds) — $10,000 for first
prize. Practically anyone may
enter, no age limitations, so 4-
H'ers may also enter. Enter by
mailing a recipe for broiler-
fryer chicken by March 15.
Chicken may be whole or any
part or parts. Remember Texas
Cookoff is May 21 — Austin,
Texas. If you desire additional
information let me know.
Everyone is invited to attend
the Lunch N’Iz;arn meeting
Thursday, Jan. 24, from 11:30
a.m. until 12:30 p.m. I will give
a program on "..Women and
Credit”.
The W.O.W s will meet in the
KSST-TV Studio Monday, Jan.

Act of Texas, hereby gives notice of the Com-
pany's intent to implement new schedules of
electric service' rates in areas served by the
Company, effective February 8, 1980, or as soon
thereafter as permitted by law.
The rate schedules will result in a 15.35 per
cent increase in the gross revenues of Texas
Power & Light Company.
A complete copy of the new rate schedules’is
on file with the Public Utility Commission at
Austin, Texas, and with each affected munici-
pality, and is available for inspection in each of
the Company's public business offices.
