formal length white gown of
polyester organza. The bodice
was covered with Chantilly lace
and scattered with seed pearls
skirt circling to a chapel train.
The fingertip, two-layered veil
featured lace and cascaded
from a headpiece garnished
with lace and pearls. For
something old, she wore her
mother's wedding band. She
carried a bouquet of pink
carnations, baby’s breath and
orchid with pink and wite lace
streamers.
The bride was accompanied
by her sister, Billie Spencer, as
Matron of Honor. Risa Brewer
of Irving was the bridesmaid.
They wore long matchng
dresses in pink and yellow
featuring ruffled bodices that
fell to a deep V back. They
carried a brandy snifter with
burning candle surrounded by
silk flowers and streamers
matching their dresses. Junior
bridesmaid was Lisa Spencer
wearing a blue gown.
Bestman was George Tucker
and groomsman was Bill
Freemah, both of Garland.
They wore tuxedos with ruffled
shirts that matehed the at-
tendants gowns. Ushers and
candlelighters were David
Huffington, son of the groom, of
Lubbock and Dan Folmar, of
Winnsboro.
Music for the ceremony was
provided by Lisa Starks of
Garland.
A reception in the Fellowship
Hall followed. Houseparty
members were Dorothy
Agnew, Kathy Paige, Betty
Hollandsworth and Elaine
Lasiter. Susie Huffington,
daughter-in-law of the groom
presided at the registery. The
table was decorated with white
lace with pink, yellow and blue
carnation flower arrangements
inside brass candlebras. The
three-tiered cake had pink
drapes and was topped with
fresh flowers. It was supported
by white pillars above a golden
waterfall surrounded by white
doves.
The bride is a graduate of
Como High School and is em-
ployed with Richard Pierce
Associates in Dallas. The
groom is a graduate of Grand-
field High School and is em-
ployed with The Dahlgren Co.
in Dallas.
After a wedding trip to South
Padre Island, the couple will
make their home in Richard-
son.
Showers honoring the couple
were: A miscellaneous shower
on April 26 and a bridal lun-
cheon on June 7 in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Brewer,
Jr. of Irving. On May 17 a
shower was held in the First
National Bank in Sulphur
Springs, hosted by Mrs. Ken-
neth Spencer and Lisa Spencer.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted
by the bride’s employer, Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Pierce, was
held at the Engineers Club in
the Republic Bank Tower in
Dallas.

North Hopkins
PTA
Maurine Evans, president of
the North Hopkins PTA at-
tended the Texas PTA’s annual
leadership seminar, July 13-15,
at the University of Texas at
Austin.
“Participate with a Heart”
was the theme of the seminar
that had over 500 members
from across Texas actively
participating. Special guest
speakers and numerous
workshops brought members
together to learn, examine, and
chart directions for the coming
year.
In reflecting upon the recent
event, Texas PTA President,
Mrs. V.F. Herbster, stated,
“PTA is THE vital link between
the home and the school. The
purpose of this seminar was to
equip our officers and chair-
men with the skills necessary to
lead out 710,000 members —
and we accomplished that —
our seminar was a terrific
success!”
Old Tarrant
Cemetery Assoc.
The Old Tarrant Cemetery
Association will met July 13 at
noon with a family basket
luncheon. Gaylord Edmonson,
president will call a short
business session with Mrs.
Hattie Thomas reading the
minutes of 1979 and Mrs. Lena
Spears giving a report on
current perpetual care funds.
The program was arranged
by Mrs. Robert Estes, vice
president and will feature Bill
Taylor of Sulphur Springs and
Old Tarrant. A group of singers
from Shannon Oaks Church of
Christ will present several
musical selections prior to
Taylor’s address.
Taylor is a native son, bom
William Jr. of Esther Conner
and William Taylor Sr. who
came to Hopkins County from
Indiana. Esther Conner was
born in Old Tarrant and
together she and William Sr.
reared eight children. The
children were Ruth and Conner
Taylor, deceased; J.B. Taylor
of Pleasington, Tex., Mrs.
Evelyn Copeland, Henderson;
Vera Maude Jones, Corpus
Christie; Nell Jones, Big
Springs; Nina Jean Taylor,
Sulphur Springs, Baby Esther
Shuptrine, Dallas. All are still
actively carrying on the Taylor
traditions and heritage.
‘Bill’ Taylor fiinished the
ninth grade at Old Tarrant and
graduated in Sulphur Springs in
1929 after the 11th grade. He
attended Williams Business
College in Sulphur Springs,
taking the six months course
under Mrs. Ruby Crabtree who
still resides in Sulphur Springs.
Taylor was then invited to
join the Dallas Brick Co.
Through the years he has
helped the name of Sulphur
Springs become known all over
the world through his brick
interest. From Thermo Brick of
Hopkins County he has
developed interest in brick
factories in Africa, Australia,
Europe, and Canada.
He is a member of the First
Methodist Church and the
Bishop Ward Sunday School
class. Taylor married Lucille
McCloud who is now deceased.
Taylor is a strong supporter
of youth and often encourages
students to take their studies
and church activities seriously.
He promotes the Boy Scouts
and 4-H.
At present he is a director
and organizer of the First
National Bank. He also helped
organize the People’s National
Bank.
Northeast Texas
Doll Club
The Northeast Texas Doll
Club met Tuesday, July 15 in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Bartlett of Nelta with 15
members and eight visitors
present. When the president
called the morning meeting to
order, it was decided that each
member make a doll quilt by
the July meeting. Prizes will be
awarded for the best one.
The schedule calls for each
member to have a baby, tod-
dler or lady doll dress ready by
March, 1981 and prizes will be
awarded in each category.
Programs were planned for the
new year and Mrs. Louise
Williams will have the year
books printed.
The August meeting will be
held in the Cumby home of
Yvonne Fyke with Donna
Pennington giving a program
on “Ginny” doll. Members are
to bring a covered dish and a
“Ginny” doll.
Mrs. Evelyn Follis gave a
demonstration on making hats
from plaited crepe paper and
decorating hats which had been
formed from old hats by the
hostess.

Saturday, June 21, 1980 at 2 p.m. The bride is the daughter of
Billie Williamson of Portland and the late Garland
Williamson. She is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.M.
Williamson of Sulphur Springs and the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Johnson.
The groom is the son of Jack and Virginia Ellis of Grafton.
The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, E.M.
Williamson. Matron of honor was Carolyn Nabors of
Charleston. The couple plan to make their home in Houston
where they are both employed by Amoco Production Com-
pany.

Disabled American Veterans
Auxiliary 160 were treated to
birthday cakes and homemade
ice cream Thursday evening
following the business meeting.
The honorees were Freddie
Alsobrooks, Christina Webb
ahd Kenessa Galloway. They
were presented red, white and
blue corsages centered with
white carnations by the
auxiliary. Individual members
presented the three with ad-
ditional gifts. -
The men’s chapter presented
a gift of $50 to the Senior
Citizens Center on College.
Another gift of $100 was given
to the auxiliary to help with
their work in community
projects.
The next regular meeting will
be a salad supper and business
meeting, Aug. 21.

Plaza Suite
In Mineola
Civic Center
The Lake County Playhouse
in Mineola will present “Plaza
Suite,” a comedy in three acts
by Neil Simon, July 31 through
Aug. 2.
The play will be presented in
the Mineola Civic Center as a
candlelight dinner theater
Thursday and Friday, July 31
and Aug. 1. Dinner begins at
6:30 p.m. followed by the play
at 8 p.m. There is no dinner
available for the Saturday
performance that begins at 8
p.m.
Reservations for the dinner
theater are required. The
dinner is being prepared by
friends and members of the
theater group. Tickets for the
dinner theater are $10. Advance
tickets can be obtained by
mailing checks to LPC, 122 W.
Broad St., Mineola or calling
214-569-3761. Tickets for the
Saturday evening performance
are $5 and reserved seats and
not necessary but advisable.
“Plaza Suite” was originally
designed as three one act plays.
The scenes take [dace in a suite
of rooms at three separate
times of the year. Each act has
a different director.
Act One brings out the funny
and sad aspects of a man and
wife who have had trouble
communicating after 23 years
of marriage. He is too busy to
notice her and she can’t
remember the date of their
anniversary. The couple is
portrayed by Lois Love and
Carthell Perdue. Others seen in
Act One are Mike Zachry,
David Fisher and Gail
Rutledge.
In Act Two, two friends meet
after living separate lives for 17
years. She is a housewife
dazzled by the, now Hollywood
producer, who was a former
sweetheart. This act features
Ginger Ingram and Jim
Wheatley.
In Act Three a middle aged
couple, on their daughter’s
wedding day attempt to deal
with her doubts about marriage
and discover some things about
their own. Actors in this scene
are Wilma Cotter, Ray Holland,
Maurita Nichols and Gary Tier.
The play had a long run on
“Broadway” and as a traveling
road show. Mineola is ap-
proximately an hours drive
from Sulphur Springs and the
LCP’s sixth production
promises an enjoyable evening
for all who attend.

wedding vows during a double-
ring ceremony in Rogers
Qiapel of the Shiloh Terrace
Baptist Church in Dallas. The
ceremony took place July 19 at
7:30 p.m. with Dr. Frank Wells
officiating the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Costner of
Mesquite. Newby is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Billy W. Newby of
Mesquite.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father. She
wore a princess styled wedding
gown. The gown featured a
three-quarter lace cape that
draped to form the chapel
length train. Stand-out lace
made up the cuffs of the long
narrow sleeves. The costume
was accented ty a soft carriage
hat and lace mits. She carried a
bouquet of pink carnations
cradling an orchid.
The bride’s twin sister, Mrs.
Karey Kay Rogers of Mesquite
was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Donna
Costner and Karla and Suzanne
Yarbrough, all of Mesquite.
They wore dresses of pink
dotted swiss and wide brimmed
hats trimmed with pink and
burgundy flowers and
streamers. Each carried a
bouquet of pink carnations and
baby’s breath. The flower girl
was Crystal Smith of Mesquite.
The bridegroom was at-
tended by his brother, Billy W.
Newby, Jr. of Dallas as best
man. The groomsmen, who also
served as ushers were Britt
Johnson and Gary Don Grelle
of Mesquite and Paul Newby of
Sulphur Springs. Ring bearer
was Brent Vaut of Garland.
The registry was presided
over by Lisa Morgan at the
reception that followed in the
Fellowship Hall.

North Mesquite High School
and attended Eastfield Jr.

annual Stacy Family Reunion
