H Steak Too High
Don't Buy It
College Station So you
think steak is too oxponsivo?
"If you complain to me about
the price of steaks I suggest
that you buy a cheaper cut of
beef" said Dr. Ed Uvacek lives-
stock marketing specialist with
tho Texas Agricultural Exten-
sion Service.
"There are plenty of low-
priced cuts of beef available to
you such as hamburger stow-
ing beef short ribs and others."
"If consumers complain that
beef is too high th6n my ad-
vice would be simple don't
buy it! I certainly wouldn't
want you to buy something you
couldn't afford" pointed out
the associate professor at Tex
as A&M University.
He cited an example "ft a
tibrsoii can't afford a Cadillac-
'to simply doesn't buy one. Yet
'ie doedn't go around complain-
ing how expensive thby arei"

beef prices. "Relative to other
foods beef is now actually chea-
per than it was in the early
19B0's or early 1960's. Relative
to your income beef is cheaper
today than it has ever been in
history."
