Studies Meteor
Houston, Mar. 31 — A
four-pound meteorite found by
a Fisher County, Tex., farm
couple has been turned over to
Manned Spacecraft Center in
Houston for study.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Neep-
er, who have a farm north q£
Sweetwater, found the odd-
looking rock two years ago.
Recently the space agency ap-
pealed to anyone finding rocks
that looked like meterorites to
bring them to the center.
The Neepers read the appeal
and brought the rock for in-
spection. Manned Spacecraft
Center scientists said the me-
teorite was about 15 per cent
nickel iron and the rest rock.
The scientists said it was a
stony meteorite probably from
the asteroid belt between the
planets or from a metorite
shower in the wake of comet’s
tail which crossed the earth’s
orbital path.
The meteorite is being studi-
ed by the lunar surface tech-
nology branch of tho Manned
Spacecraft Center.
Baby Found
In Parked Car
Fort Worth, Mar. 31 tf! —
There was a surprise waiting
for Joe Le Barre as he return-
ed to his car at a south Fort
Worth shopping center last
night. On the front seat he
found a baby boy.
So far no clues have been
found t(f the identity of the in-
fant, believed to be four to aix
week old.
Le Barre works at a store
in the shopping center and he
made the discovery about 9
p.m. after quitting for the day.
He said the baby, although
well dressed, was cold and ap-
parently had been in the car
for some time. With the infant
was one blanket, onfe diaper
and one bottle.
Police took the baby to the
Lena Pope Home infirmary in
Fort Worth. Attendants said he
appeared to be in good condi-
tion.

pressure remains good.

Washington, Mar. 31 —
General MacArthur’s condition
is reported today as still criti-
cal. But his doctors say that
the kidney condition that gave
him trouble has improved
slightly.
A mediial bulletin issued
by Army Walter Reed Hos-
pital says the 84-year-old gen-
eral continues to have inter-
mittent bleeding from his
esophagus, but that this is be-
ing contro lied by pressure
from a tube inserted in hi$
esophagus. The medical bullet-
in adds: “Heart function and
vital sighs remain quite
stable.”
This indicates that McArth-
ur’s heart remains strong in Try a Want Ad for Result!

Ths Marine Corps in Washing-
ton says that Lieutenant Col-
onel John Glenn will remain
under medical care until his
physical condition is determin-
ed. If he chooses, Glenn may
request cancellation of his ap-
plication for retirement.
Glenn, one of the original
astronauts, had planned to re-
tire from the Marine Corps to
enter the Democratic primary
in his home state of Ohio to
seek the nomination for US
senator. His retirement has
been delayed because of a fall
which injured his inner ear
and affects his sense of bal-
ance. He is now hospitalized
in San Antonio and yesterday
announced he is withdrawing
from the Senate race. /
