l Graves Scores Six Touchdowns in Lobos 62ri3 Rout Over Seminole
By Dustin Wright
Sentinel Managing Editor
MONAHANS-Everything
that could go wrong for the Semi-
nole Indians Friday night in their
62-13 loss to the Monahans Lo-
bos in District 3-AAA action, did
go wrong.
Five Indian turnovers, 566
yards in total offense on the night
for Monahans, or being held
under 100 yards rushing on the
night-it' doesn't matter which way
you look at it, Monahans con-
trolled every aspect of the game
from beginning to end.
Monahans (8-0, 3-0) was
led by the rushing duo of senior
Sam Graves and iunior Chris
Roberson, who rushed for a com-
bined 408 yards and seven rush-
ing touchdowns between them.
Graves lead all rushers in the con-
test with 267 yards on 24 carries
and a career high six touchdowns
against the Tribe.
The Lobos put up 28 un-
answered points early in the first
half, before the Indians (3-5, 2-1)
hit paydirt, as junior quarterback
Eric Boyd connected with senior
receiver Micah Clay for a 72 yard
touchdown pass with a little over
four minutes left to play in the
half.
That score marked the first
time in four Seminole possessions
that the Tribe had crossed mid-
field for the first half of play.
Seminole, as a team, was held
to only 292 yards in total offense,
205 of which came through the air
on 9 of 22 passing from Boyd.
Seminole's final score came
with 9:02 left in the third period,
as senior Drew Phillips plunged
through the Lobo defense for a
one yard touchdown run.
The Indians will play host to
the Fort Stockton Panthers in a
Friday evening contest at Wigwam
Stadium.
Seminole players will honor
thejr parents with a "Parent's
Night" ceremony prior to the start
of the 7:30 p.m. District 3-AAA
contest.
