To celebrate their 44th wedding
anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Johuj
Haliercr entertained with a farn-j
ily reunion dinner Sunday, Feb-1
ruary 7. at their home on West
Sixth Street. The valentine mo-
tif wan used iu decorations. The
centerpiece for the long, beautiful-
ly appointed table was a tiered
anniversary cake decorated with
hi arts and topped with a minia-
ture bride and groom. Place cards
were dainty old fashioned valen-
tines. Of paramount interest to
the guests was u beautiful and
appropriate tribute paid to the
honored couple by Mrs. llernmu
Ilaberer. The tribute was “Forty-
four Years of Memories,” and told
of happy highlights from 1803 to
1037. Flowers were presented to
Mr. and Mrs. Halierer by their
children.
Mr. and Mrs. Haberer were
married in Dodge county, Nebras-
ka, in 1803. They moved to Tex-
as iu 1010 ami located at Big
Square. Thirteen years later they
moved to Hereford and have resid-
es! here since that. time. Mr.
Halierer is engaged in wheat fann-
ing ami ranching.
All of the five chlldrt n of the
couple, and their families, were
pn sent at the celebration. They
were Hoy Halierer, A. L. Haberer,
and Johnnie Haberer, of Big
Square; Herman Halierer, Mule-
shoe. and Mrs. Henry Sherman.

short business meeting, Mrs. Wal-

with a discussion on The Home
and Its Influence on Community
Life. An Interesting article on
The Home was given by Mrs. N.
R. Miller. A reading, Borneo,
was given by Kugerie Roberson.
After the program games were
directed by Mrs. Ruth Worn hie

tained with a tea and lecture re-
cital at the Presbyterian church
Mouday afternoon. The club pres-
ent d Wayne Kuhanks, head of
the H|ieevtk department of Amarillo'
Junior College, iu u recital pro-
gram featuring the works of the
modern i>oets. Mr. Eubanks was
received with much appreciation
and enthusiasm as he gave vivid
word pictures of jioets and their
types of work, as he saw them.
Illustrating his remarks with
poems depicting the author’s char-
acteristics. His outstanding num-
ber wus Patterns, by Amy Lowell,
when he seemed to transmit his
inspiration to the audience.
The program included looms
by Conrad Aiken, ltotiert Frost,
Edna St. Vincent Millay, Edwin
Arlington Robinson, Sara Tresdale,
Carl Sandburg, Amy Lowell and
Lew Sarrat.
Mr. Eubanks was assisted by
Miss Mary Rolierts Warner of
Amarillo, who gave the following

Ray Coleman returned from u

an alteration and was recovering

City, where they visited. Lewis
returned. Hoyt remained for a
longer stay.
