Funeral Services
Conducted Sunday
For Mike Karl
Funeral services for Mike
.Karl 84 local resident were
conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday
at the- First Baptist Church
the Rev. Melton Miles officia-
ting. Burial was in the Holland
City Cemetery.
Mr. Karl died at his home
late Friday afternoon follow-
ifig a long illness.
Mr. Karl was born near Hol-
land livinc in the Holland -
Bartlett area all of his life.
lie was a member of the First

Survivors include his wife

Set April 28th
The annual Friedrich reunion
will be held (Sunday April 28th
at the American Legion Hall in
Bartlett.
Members are asked to bring
a basket lunch for the noon
"hour. Drinks bread plates
cups and silverware will be
furnished.

Mrs. LeRoy Miller chair-

lected for the lcoal drive.

A Politieal Rally is schedul-
ed for Friday evening April
26th at the S.P.J.S.T. Hall in
Holland beginning at 6:30

fore the Rally and following the
Rally.

Pilgrimage
Cornelia Wilson Garden
Club members enjoyed a Pil-
grimage to Georgetown Wed-
nesday April 10th.
The first step of the pil-
grimage was the Candle Fac-
tory near Georgetown follow-
ed by a tour of the Innerspaco
Cavern and lunch at a George
town Restaurant.

Connie Lawson candidate for
the office of representative
from fthc 11th congressional
District of Texas in a press re-
lease today made the following
statement: "I was born and
reared in the San Gabriel com-
munity of Milam county in the
heart of central Texas. I have
been in business or agriculture
in this area all of my life. I
have been in business in the
city of Taylor for the past 28
years. My reputation for hon-
esty and integrity is well known
in this area and I welcome any
inquiry into my past record.
I have no experience in the
legislative process and I have
no magic formula for instant
relief from our present state of
governmental bondage. We
were many years in the process
of evolving into our present;
status and there is no-instant'
solution. All I have to offer you
is Honesty integrity common
sense and the ability ;to fight
for what I know is right.
Even in our present dilemma
while we nre neck- deep in con-
gressional bungling and politi-
cal corruption while we have
scandal on top of scandal let
me be the first to say we still
have the" greatest bastion of

serve as Worthy Matron and
Worthy Patron of Bartlett
Chapter No. 293 Order of the
Eastern Star at a stated Mon-
day meeting in the Masonic
Hall.

School gymnasium.

New School Bond
Election Set
For April 27th
A new school bond issue will
be voted on Saturday April 27
by qualified voters in the Bart-
lett Independent School Dis-
trict. The new ssue calls for the is-
suance of ?455000.00 in bond3
to bo paid back in ten years.
The election will be held at
the Little River -San Gabriel
Soil & Water Conservation
building with R. E. Bunker ns
presiding judge and Mrs. Joe
Bridges as alternate presiding
judge. Polls will be open from
8 a. m. to 7 p. m.
Approval of the voters would
authorize the school district to
issue bonds in the amount of
$455000.00 for the construction
of a new 14 classroom building
to house grades kindergarten
through grade six with a
cafeteria to handle all the
students of both schools an
ag shop and a covered walk
way to connect the new build-
ing with the present covered
walk way between the high
school and the band hall and
gymnasium.
Also ' to be included will bu
the making of a classroom for
vocational office education
from the present high school
lunchroom and to also make
needed repairs to the present
high school. Some money is also
allowed for walks paving and
pal-king area.

Bulldogs Enter
Regional Meet
Five Bulldog tracksters will
represent Bartlett Saturday in
the Regional IV Track Meet in
Victoria.
The Mile Relay team of El-
vis Woolridge. Mark Richey
Bobby Ramsey and Jesse Davis
will be entered. David Lemons
is the Mile Relay alternate.
This will make the 11th time
a Bulldog Mile Relay team has
advanced to the Regional meet
in the last thirteen years.
The Bulldogs' best clocking
this year is 3:32.4.
Jesse Davis will enter the
440 dash. His best time is 49.7.
The prelims begin at 10 a.m.
Saturday morning. The finala
begin at 2:30 Saturday after
noon.
The first two places in each
event will advance to the State
Track meet in Austin May 3-4.
Leo Howell Dies
In Rosenberg
Funeral services for Leo
Howell 55 of Rosenberg for-
nier Bartlett resident and a bro
ther-in-law of Mrs. Lynn Brock
were conducted Friday at the
First Street Church of Christ
in Rosenberg. Burial was in the
Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosen
berg.
Mr. Howell died Wodnesday
April 17th at his home in
Rosenberg.
Survivors include his wife
Mrs. Julia Howell of Rosen-
berg; one daughter Mrs. Bar-
bara Silsbury of Rosenberg;
one son Preston Howell of Ed-
na; a brother Olan Howell of
Rosenberg; a sister Mrs.
Jewel Moore of Rosenberg; and
four grandchildren.

April 23 beginning at 7 p. m.
in the Bartlett High School
Gymnasium.

of St. John Lutheran Church.
The speaker for the even-
ing will be Cactus Pryor a na-
tive Texan with a nationwide
sense of humor.

and the 1974 officers and di-

Commerce. Alvis Bailey will
piesent a plaque to the retir-
ing president.
Mrs. E. E. Cryer will pre-
sent the "Woman of the Year"

"Man of the Year."

the P.T.O. meeting previously
scheduled for Tuesday April
23 has been postponed due to
the Chamber of Commerce
banquet.
The meeting will be held
either April 30th or May 7th
depending on the report from
the nominating committee.

ed of the meeting date.
