Bartlett May Have
Dumping Ground
Problem Ahead
Bartlett may have a gar-
bage problem ahead Mayor
Bobby Hill told members of
the city council at the Febru-
ary meeting Monday night.
The city must file for a permit
to operate the present dump-
ing ground and the ground
must meet state standards
and pass a rigid inspection.
Should the ground not meet
all of the requirements the
possibilities would then bo use
of county landfills in either
Bell or Williamson Counties
contracting with some firm
which handles garbage col-
lection on a commercial basis
or the purchase of land in a
new location for a new dump-
ing ground.
All of the proposals would
bo more expensive than the
present operation. There is a'
dumping charge for use of
county landfills and garbage
trucks would spend more time;
on the road than in making
pickups locally.
The council discussed with
Attorney Marvin Lenz admin-
istrator 'of the estate of W. C.
and Alma Teinert the possi-
bilities of constructing a state
approved library instead of a
private city library. If it meets
the requirements for a state
approved library a matching
building grant is available
and some maintenance funds
are available. The will pro-
vides that Lenz will see that
the $50000 provided in the
will is used for the building
of the library and that it will
then be deeded to the citv.
Lenz. is looking further into
the possibilities and will ob-
tain more details on the state
plan and requirements.
The resignation of Gavle
Jones as a member of the
council "was accepted and it
was decided to wait until tho
April city election to fill the
vacancy. '
