.t" Meet Tuesday
St. Petersburg, Fla., kf) — It’s
very easy to be a pitching coach
in the big leagues. All you have
to know is just about everything
about pitching, be keen-eyed
enough to notice what somebody
else is doing wrong, articulate
enough to explain it to him and
then have the patience of a psy-
chiatrist.
One of the best mound men-
tors in the big show is Jim Tur-

Thicc Sulphur Springs civic
leaders conferred Wednesday in
Austin with officials of the State
Highway Department in regard to
j getting College Street paved, but
the results of the conference won’t
be known for several days.
Sulphur Springs is asking the
state to pave College Street to its
juncture with Crush Road at the
city limits.
Mayor Joe Dan Avinger, one of
the trio, sa]d that while no defi-
nite commitment was received
from state officials in regard to
the paving job, they were at least
given a hearing. He said local of-
ficials would be notified later con-
cerning the state's decision jn the
matter.
The other two Sulphur Springs
men making the trip were Johnny
..Ramey and City Manager Roy
Hames.
Also discussed during the con-
ference, according to Avinger,
was the proposed loop around the
city connecting Highways 19 and
154.

Turkey Truck
Skids in Diich
A truck loaded with turkeys
slid into the ditch Thursday about
1 a^ m. a short distance east of
Sulphur Springs on U. S. 67, but
the driver told Highway Patrol-
men Joe Pruett that the only loss
was “two or three turkeys.”
Pruett said the driver pulled
off on the side of the highway 1
to stop for a moment and that
when he endeavored to get back
on the road the truck slid across
the wet shoulder into the ditch.
There was no damage to the
truck. A Sulphur Springs wrecker
pulled it back onto the road later
in the day.
