Katy President
Feels Earnings
Should Climb
Washington, July 19 tP—The
president of the Missouri-Kansas-
Texas railroad told an Interstate
Commerce Commission hearing in
Washington that expense cuts car-
ried out by the road this year
would enable the Katy to gross
up to 80 million dollars annually.
William N. Deramus the 3rd
said prospective earnings of the
company will take care of all re-
quirements of its plan for retir-
ing outstanding 7 per cent pre-
ferred stock.
Deramus said “It is my belief,
with the reduction of expense*
that are being made, and with a
normal level of gross earnings
which I feel will be in the range
of 75 million to 80 million dol-
lars a year, the property should
cam in the near future from 14
million to 16 million dollars a
year.”
He said he believed the Katy
railroad has substantial earning
power.
