Daniel's Plans
Move Notch
In Legislature
Austin, Apr. 15 (P — Two
points in the governor’s legisla-
tive program have moved up a
notch in the legislature.
One is a vital and controver-
sail revenue bill that survived
by a 2-vote margin yesterday.
The other is the measure to
advertise Texas.
The House advanced the ad-
ministration’s dormant fund
bill to its 3rd reading after a
stubborn fight The vote was
71 to 69. Numerous tests had
shown the governor had a more
comfortable margin. But the
last-minute switch of more than
a score of votes came as a
shock to Daniel’s floor leaders.
It was the longest, closest
floor fights of the session in
the House with one of the gov-
ernor's key measures to erase
the deficit at stake.
The dormant bank account
bill would undergird the pres-
ent law on the subject by re-
quiring institutions to turn ov-
er to the state funds unclaimed
for 7 years. Efforts to modify
this to 20, 15 and 10 years
were beaten down.
Final approval would put
most of the governor’s deficit
program over in the House, but
with more tough sledding
ahead in the Senate.
In the Senate, the enabling
act to advertise Texas was ap-
provedon a voice vote.
A similar bill has been mov-
ed up to final reading in the
House and apparently faces no
serious opposition.
The governor has recom-
mened the state promotion bill
to put into effect the constitu-
tional amendment adopted last
year. It permits use of state
money to advertise the attrac-
tions of Texal. The bill sets up
a Texas development board to
lure tourists and new business-
es.

MOTORIZED MILKING — There’s more than one way to milk a cow, as demonstrated
on this farm at Oestra Ljungby, Sweden. Troubled by frequent power breaks while using
his electric milking machine, farmer Anders Olsson decided, to employ the power from
lis automobile engine to do the job. All he needed was a siphon fitted onto the auto’s air
intake valve, a hose and a pulsator. When the chore’s done. Olsson puts the cans in the
car and drives away. (NEA)

Flying Bandit
Being Deported
By Mexicans
Mexico City, Apr. 15 UPI —
The spectacular American fly-
ing bandit, Frand Sprenz, is
being deported from Mexico to
face a mass of charges in this
country. The fast-talking 29-
year-old native of Akron, Ohio
is expected to be turned over
to U-S authorities sometime to-
day, probably at Nueva Laredo. I
Sprenz was captured as he
was fishing off the Yucatan
coast Mexico promptly order- '
led him deported for illegal en-
! ery. He is wanted for a series
! of crimes in the U-S, includ-
' ing the $30,000 holdup of a
i bank in Hamilton, Ohio-.This]
was one of several occasions i
jin which he either stole a car
or a small plane to escape. In
! the Hamilton case, he used a
stolen car to get to the bunk
and then swiped a plane to
elude authorities. Ironically,
Sprenz’ downfall came after
he bought — rather than stole
— a plane and flew it to Mexi-
co. He crash landed it and auth-
orities soon picked up his trail.
