Obituaries
Don R
Don R. Talley, 70, of
Holliday died March 18, 2007 at
Hospice of Wichita Falls. Services
will be held 2:00 PM Thursday,
March 22, 2007 at First Baptist
Church of Holliday, TX with Dr.
David Hardage, Director of Mis-
sions for the Waco Baptist Asso-
ciation and Rev. Darryl Sewell,
Pastor of First Baptist Church in
Holliday officiating. Burial will be
in Crestview Memorial Park un-
der the direction of Lunn’s Colo-
nial Funeral Home.
Don was a lifetime resident
of Wichita and Archer Counties.
He was bom on October 19,1936
to Hurst Benton and Zilla Zee
Talley. He graduated from Valley
View Public Schools and Mid-
western State University. On April
10, 1959, he married Janett
Bryans.
Upon graduation from
MSU, he went into the insurance
business with his father. For the
next 30 years, he ran Talley Insur-
ance Agency. He also formed Don
Talley Real Estate Agency. After
a brief retirement, he ended his
real estate career with Strategic
Realty.
Don was a longtime mem-
ber of the First Baptist Church of
Holliday. He was active in the
Democratic Party serving as the
Archer County Democratic Chair-
man. He was the longtime cam-
paign treasurer for former State
Representative Charles Firinell.
As a member of the Grand
Talley
Lodge of Texas A.F. & A.M., he
was a past Master of the Dundee
Masonic Lodge No. 994 before
becoming a member of the Iowa
Park Masonic Lodge No. 713. He
was a member of the Maskat
Shrine Temple and served as past
president of the Texas Shrine
Horse Patrol Association. He was
a member of the Wichita Falls
Board of Realtors and served on
the North Texas Rural Rail Trans-
portation District. As a member of
the MSU Alumni Association,-he
was active in the Kiowa Cooks, a
group of Ex-MSU students that
raise scholarship money for the
university. His favorite times were
spent telling stories with his
friends and watching his grand-
children play sports.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, a sister and brother-
in-law, Valaree and Hudson Mace,
a nephew, Gary Ford, and a grand-
daughter, Talley McClung.
He is survived by his wife,
three daughters, Bridget Rogers
and husband Kevin of Highland
Village, Lisa Little, and husband
John of Lakeside City, Rhonda
McClung and husband Hank of
San Angelo, a sister, Viola Ford of
Wichita Falls, and seven grand-
children, Coleton Little of
Granbury, Shane and Matt Rogers
of Highland Village, Bray den and
Brea Little of Lakeside City, and
Ben and Isabell McClung of San
Angelo.
The family will be at the
funeral home Wednesday evening
6:00-7:00 PM for visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memori-
als may be made to the Kiowa
Cook Scholarship Fund at Mid-
western State University, 3410
Taft Blvd, Wichita Falls, TX
76308, or to Hospice of Wichita
Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd. Wichita

Gillispie
Bobby Lee Gillispie of
Weatherford Texas was called
home to be with his Father Sun-
day, March 18, 2007. Preceding
him in death was his wife of 48
years, Janice Lynn, son Russell
Cole and a brother, Charles Gor-
don. Bob was a heavy equipment
operator for most of his life and
retired from Parker County Pre-
cinct 4. He was also a retired
Staff Seargent from the Army
National Guard where he
proudly served his country for 23
years. Surviving family members
include four sons, Bobby Lynn
and wife Sheila of Haltom City,
Charles Gordon of Weatherford,
Dennis Greer and wife Marsha
of Wichita Falls, Louis T.
Stevens and wife Becky of Ralls
and two daughters, Geneva Lee
Elam and husband Theron of
Weatherford and Edith “Suzie”
Gillispie and husband Dakota of
Holliday, followed by 23 grand-
children and 16 great grandchil-
dren. Visitation with family is
Friday, March 23rd. at 6:00 PM
at Seymour Memorial Funeral
Home and graveside services
will be held in Crafton Texas on
Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 PM.

Windthorst Graduate makes
Dean’s List
Dia Berend of Windthorst,
daughter of Kenny and Karen
Berend of Windthorst, was
named to the 2006 Fall Semes-
ter Dean’s List at Berea College.
To be eligible, a student
must achieve a 3.2 or higher
regular term average for a mini-
mum of four full courses, the
equivalent of 16 credit hours.
Berea is a non-denomina-
tional, liberal arts college that
offers bachelor of arts degrees in
24 fields and bachelor of science
degrees in agriculture and natu-
ral resources, business adminis-
tration, technology and indus-
trial arts and nursing.
Every student receives the
equivalent of a full-tuition schol-
arship and works at least 10
hours a week to pay living ex-
penses.
