Christian Mothers Society Held
Monthly Meeting
The monthly Christian
Mothers Society met on Wednes- ^
day, June 6, after Church services.
Twelve members were present
when the Secretary, Lillie Rife and
Treasurer, Elizabeth Hoff, pre-
sided during the absence of presi-
dent, Leesa Nelson. The minutes
were read and approved and the
treasurer’s report given.
A question was asked about
inactive members who may want
to become active again after not
paying dues for many years. After
some discussion it was voted on
and approved that long past dues
will be forgiven if a former mem-
ber wishes to become active again;
if over 70, no dues are required.
Tina Neeb announced that
a Socks & Underwear Drive is
again underway. The Glenmary
Home Missioners serve those liv-
. ing in the poverty areas of the east-
ern part of the U.S. Monetary4o-
nations or new socks & underwear
are desperately needed for school
age children. A donation box is in
the vestibule of the church and the
drive will end August 1. Please
help out this needy cause.
The NCCW (National
Council of Catholic Women) will
hold their next quarterly meeting
here in Windthorst on Thursday,
July 26.
All women of St. Mary’s, as
part of the Fort Worth Diocese, are
members of this organization. As
hosts of the next meeting local la-
dies will be asked to help with the
activities and/or lunch. NCCW
Chairwomen, Tina Neeb, encour-
ages all to attend as women from
area Catholic parishes are also in-
vited at the business meeting, spe-
cial reports, a speaker and a Mass.
Included is a coffee brunch and a
noon meal. This is a great oppor-
tunity to share some spiritual and
educational time with other local
and area women.
Bereavement Report: Fol-
lowing Marie Koetter’s funeral
service 166 people were 'fed. »
Thatiks were expressed to the u
helpers especially-'the men who
come to assist the ladies who pre-
pare the meal. Clafa Veitenheimer
and Gloria Schroeder were com-
mended for the Christian Mothers
special prayer and hymn recited
and sung at Marie’s funeral Mass.
It was suggested to do this at the
services of each CM member who
dies.
A letter from the American
Life League was read by Clara and
a donation of $100 will be sent to
them to purchase ten “Baby Step”
videos to use for right Jo life pro-
grams. One video will be avail-
able at our high school library.
The secretary reported that
she sent get-well cards to Henry
Osterman, Alfred Berend, Betty
Humpert and Leona Koetter.
The Nursing Home Bingo
Chairwomen, Mildred Pennartz,
resigned her position overseeing
this project. After some discus-
sion, it was voted to discontinue
these bingo visits at this time.
Special thanks to Mildred for her
faithful dedication overseeing this
activity for many years.
Due to the next meeting date
being the holiday, July 4th,, please
watch the church bulletin for an
alternate date.
Door-prize winners of fresh
garden produce were: Lillie Rife,
Tina Neeb, Benita Essler, Clara
Veitenheimer and Mildred
Pennartz.
An inspiritual reading by
Lillie Rife concluded the meeting.
Amber Wolf
graduates with
Honors
Amber Nicole Wolf re-
ceived a Bachoi^ qf Arts in Psy-
chology with a minor in Busi-
ness Administration from Texas
A&M University on May 11th at
College Station. Wolf, 21, is the
daughter of Gene and Cathy
Wolf of Windthorst. She is a
2004 graduate of Windthorst
High School, where she was stu-
dent body vice president, senior
class president, and graduated as
valedictorian.
At Texas A&M, she
'graduated Summa Cum Laude
with a 3.91 cumulative GPA, and
a 4.0 GPA in psychology courses.
She was recently awarded the
Nicole Baxter White award for
the top graduating senior in the
Psychology department at Texas
A&M-University. She plans to
attend Clemson University in the
fall to pursue a Master’s and
Ph.D. degree in Industrial/Orga-
nizational Psychology.
